As part of the Construction discipline you will be a key element in ultimately delivering complex solutions in a demanding and dynamic engineering environment. The E&P team forms an essential part of this Construction function, along with telecommunications, giving a full turn key solution to the customer. Construction functions complement in house design and project functions to develop the highest quality and efficient engineering solutions and are expected within the industry. To be successful as part of this team you will need an excellent underlying engineering base onto which you will be expected to add bespoke industry expertise and further technical knowledge.

Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing & commissioning relevant processes and procedures, taking ownership for the completion of technical testing commissioning activities. Acting as the TIC (Tester in Charge) Telecoms for projects, you will support the Test and Commissioning Manager in continuous improvement of test activities and develop appropriate test documentation including strategies, plans and specifications.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Manage the completion of all site testing including FAT, SAT and EIS testing.
  • Liaise and assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects/bids.
  • Provide evidence of testing & commissioning through the completion of test certificates and associated documentation and results.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers for the installation and commissioning of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure a robust and documented handover process is executed from the construction organisation prior to the commencement of testing.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff for all testing activities.
  • Support the Test and Commissioning Manager in the preparation of test & commissioning information for bids and tenders.
  • Attend internal and external meeting as required to represent the testing and commissioning group.
  • Complete any works as directed by your line manager in a safe and timely manner.
  • Manage all testing related interfaces of the project, both internal and external, making sure all hand over process to and from the testing phase have been completed correctly.
  • Compliance to all business related GDPR process.
  • Maintain an engineering logbook

Essential

  • Ability to deliver all work in accordance with Linbrooke Services quality procedures and customer specified standards and specifications.
  • Ability to support the business during quality audits and demonstrate compliance.
  • Efficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Contributory team member with good organisational and time management skills.
  • IT literate – Microsoft 365 office packages including CAD software such as Visio.
  • Driving licence.
  • Thorough knowledge of aspects of telecoms testing & commissioning as applied to railway telecommunications.
  • Good understanding and appreciation of the CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent practical experience and appreciation of system testing & commissioning processes, safety concepts and associated decision making as applied to railway telecommunications.

Desirable

  • Hold IRSE Test Licence.
  • Knowledge of IP networking (CCNA or equivalent).
  • A Level / technical degree / ONC / HNC.
