Technical Clerk in London, London, United Kingdom
My client provides software and asset inspection services with a focus on structural assets for the UK rail sector. Due to an increase in work orders in the London region, they now require a Technical Clerk to join the team.
Within this role you will be providing direct support to the Project Engineer whilst also providing ad-hoc support to the wider business.
Predominantly working from home, you will be required to carry out the following tasks
- Assist in planning and monitoring of site works / examinations.
- Data entry and data manipulation
- Be the first contact for contractors and staff.
- Liaise with clients to discuss requirements.
- Support Project Engineer in the planning and implementation of enabling works, de-vegetation, road closures and possessions.
- Collaborating with local authorities and small businesses to arrange accesses, factoring this in to the plan of works.
- Monitoring contractor’s times on and off site.
- Be part of the lone working system, monitoring the welfare of lone working staff whilst on site.
- Snagging technical reports as they are drafted.
- Preparation of reports and programmes.
- Manage costs within the agreed budgets.
- Initial workload takes place in and around London, with other parts of the UK to follow – an occasional on-site presence may be required (travel and accommodation provided).
- Maintaining the department’s QM system updating policies and forms, as necessary.
- Monitor staff / contractor’s competencies and arranging training / refresher courses, as necessary.
- Work closely with RIMINI planners and COSS’s to ensure safety critical paperwork is correct and available on time.
- Preparation of work package plans and task briefing sheets.
- Order PPE and equipment, manage stock, delivery and assets.
- Occasional weekend and evening work with time off in lieu.
- Night shifts may be required as part of the lone working system and occasional presence on site during night time possessions.
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in a similar role within the rail industry; with an understanding of rail technical terminology and processes.
- Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Previous demonstrable experience of administrative duties within the rail industry.
- Previous demonstrable experience of preparing and snagging reports, within the rail industry.
- Experience dealing with contractors, rail transport providers and local authorities.
Additional Desirable Experience
- PTS certified desirable but not essential
- Experience of Polestar systems
Additional Information
- As the successful applicant you will be home based with the requirement to visits sites from time to time, as such the ability to be commutable to central London is desired.
- Due to nature of the work, some weekend and night work will be required.
