Package: £65,000 - £70,000 Pound Stirling equivalent to NZ$130K+ plus Benefits TBD.
We are seeking a RAIL SPECIALIST to provide leadership and technical support to Vitruvius’s consultancy activities, based out of Wellington, New Zealand. Come work, live and play in Wellington - the cultural, arts, great outdoors and culinary Capital of New Zealand.
Who are we looking for? This role will suit a positive, forward thinking, commercially astute, technical qualified individual, with experience in Rail Track Design. The role requires strong interpersonal skills to interface between clients and Vitruvius resources, as well as professional technical competence. The candidate must have or be capable of developing a high level of credibility with clients.
The Business: Vitruvius are a highly experienced team of technical professionals leading the field through expertise and innovation in all aspects of Civil Engineering, Surveying, Rail and Road Transport Engineering Design, Subdivision, and Land Development projects. A major segment of the company’s business is associated with supporting the rapid growth in the New Zealand rail network. The company provides design and project management service delivery, leadership development, contract administration and strategic advisory services. With offices in Tauranga and Wellington, Vitruvius are well situated to offer New Zealand wide consulting services.
The Brief: The Technical Director Rail will lead Vitruvius’ project delivery, compliance and process management. They will ensure consistent, on time, quality and compliance through the execution of project work by team members. This will be achieved through effective leadership, clarity, process, audit and discipline. The focus will be on technical delivery of project material and the processes used to achieve Vitruvius and client KPIs. This will include performance management and development of all Engineers, surveyors and technicians through continuous business development and improvement initiatives. In addition, the role has significant influence over the future direction of Vitruvius and will be expected to govern the development of new technologies, applications and risk. Above all the Technical Director will be a safety leader by role modelling the required behaviours through implementation and adherence to safety plans HSE legislation, codes and practices.
The Technical Director Rail will:
• Have relevant experience and qualifications in rail track engineering, project management., and HSE management
• 10+ years’ experience as a technical professional with a specialisation in rail track engineering e.g. alignment, systems, signals, operations
• Have experience in stakeholder and staff management
• Strong background in directing project execution, project reporting and documentation
• Full understanding responsibilities under HSE Act 2015
• Have strong commercial acumen and problem-solving capability
