Our client a Tier 1 contractor has an exciting role for an experienced temp work Co-ordinator with TWC, SMSTS and LOLER AP.

The Role:

The Temporary Works Co-coordinator (TWC) is responsible for ensuring that all temporary
works are adequately controlled and implemented on the site. They are responsible for any
temporary works matters relating to the designer and site team. They have a duty to plan,
manage and monitor their design through to implementation.

The TWC should ensure that all temporary works designs are constructed following relevant
drawings and specifications which are set out by the designer. Furthermore, the TWC is
responsible for the permit to load ensuring that all appropriate steps have been taken to
ensure the stability of the temporary structure.

They will be required to check periodically that the temporary works have not been altered
since being constructed on site and then before loading.

The role of the TWC is an important part of the building process as they will be responsible
for overseeing the temporary works from creating the register and design briefs through to
inspection and quality checks.

It is their duty to ensure that various TW responsibilities have been allocated and accepted
by other members of the team if this is how the project which to manage temporary works.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical design
Prepare temporary works design briefs
Co-ordinate, review and check detailed technical designs ensuring they are fit for purpose
Ensure the correct level of independent checks and/or third party technical approvals are
completed
Ensure design outputs meet CDM/health and safety/environmental compliance
Technical support
Provide technical information/advice
Propose and/or develop value engineered alternative solutions (during design or
construction phases)
Undertake technical review of method statements for complex or unusual methods
Administrative support
Assist with the approval of external suppliers
Obtain or provide pricing for estimating purposes
Undertake temporary works co-ordination during the design phase including handover to the
construction teams
General
Liaise with customers/suppliers/third parties as necessary
Assist with promoting best practice
Assist with promoting the Company to customers

Key measures & amp; targets:

Deliver required services on time/cost/quality
Contribute wherever possible to enable the company to meet CDM/health &
safety/environmental targets

Design & amp; Engineering team and other technical staff
Project based staff inluding Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Site Agents, Site
Engineers
Clients, suppliers and third parties

Person Specification:
The successful candidate is likely to meet all of the following criteria:
Essential
Extensive experience of temporary works especially in deep drainage, lifting operations and
structural works.
Experience within the water and rail sectors.
Experience in the detailed design of permanent and temporary works, including the use of
CAD
Sound working knowledge of relevant industry specifications, e.g. CESWI, Network Rail,
Highways
Experience of obtaining third party technical approval of proposals
Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
Current, relevant CSCS card
Temporary Works Co-coordinator qualification
LOLER Appointed person
Incorporated/Chartered membership with a relevant professional institution (or en route to
achieving such a qualification)
A thorough knowledge of engineering management, construction processes and technical
design.
Good team worker but able to exercise own judgement
Ability to work independently and manage own time and tasks
Effective communicator and able to assert their own view
Ability to coach others
Able to identify risks and opportunities
Able to think laterally but remain critically objective in evaluating alternatives
Desirable
A mix of site and design office experience
