Company Overview:
We are a leading civil engineering firm specializing in major infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator to join our team working on the HS2 project. The role will be based across multiple sites, including Greatworth, Buckinghamshire, Brackley, and Banbury.
Job Purpose:
The Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) will be responsible for managing all aspects of temporary works on the HS2 sites. The TWC will ensure that all temporary works are planned, designed, and implemented safely and effectively, in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The role requires significant experience in civil engineering, particularly in structures, drainage, earthworks, and concreting.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordination of Temporary Works:
Manage and coordinate all temporary works activities on-site, ensuring safe design, implementation, and removal.
Liaise with designers, site engineers, and project managers to ensure that temporary works are properly integrated into the overall construction plan.
Ensure that all temporary works designs are checked and approved by competent persons.
Site Supervision and Compliance:
Conduct regular site inspections to verify that temporary works are being constructed in accordance with design specifications and safety standards.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
Maintain a detailed log of all temporary works, including design approvals, inspections, and any modifications.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and design briefs.
Report regularly to the project manager on the progress and status of temporary works.
Ensure all temporary works records are accurately maintained and readily available for audit purposes.
Health and Safety:
Promote a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring all temporary works are carried out with the highest regard for health and safety.
Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
Provide guidance and training to site personnel on temporary works procedures and best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on structures, drainage, earthworks, and concreting.
Proven experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Experience working on projects within the rail sector or HS2 is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong understanding of temporary works design and implementation processes.
Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with designers, contractors, and site teams.
Proficient in the use of engineering software and tools for temporary works design.
Thorough knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and best practices.
