Currently recruiting for 2 Tunnels Superintendent (TBM) to work on part of the Crossrail route.
The Principal Accountabilities of the Tunnels Superintendent (TBM) will be:
- To monitor all tunnelling activities during the shift in discussion with the Contractorâs Tunnel Shift Superintendent.
- Assure correct tunnel sequence; primary lining support, additional support, waterproofing (sprayed and sheet) and secondary lining (sprayed and in-situ concrete) for SCL works; or, TBM tunnel lining construction sequence (segment quality, bolts, grouting, sealing etc) for TBM works; as specified in the contract documents, Contractorâs work plans and RESS.
- Report in writing on observed quality deficiencies of the materials delivered to site and/or quality issues relating to construction operations.
- Report in writing all construction activities, labour and plant, rates of production, delays, special conditions and other occurrences to the CM/PFE at the end of each shift.
- The Tunnel Superintendents will have to be present at headings/principal work areas most of the time and during all major construction activities.
- When tunnelling activities are not happening on site, or if other Tunnel Superintendents are covering all current tunnelling duties, the Tunnel Superintendent will carry out the duties of a Field Engineer.
- Tunnel Superintendents will be expected to work rotating shifts.
The experience and qualifications expected of the Tunnels Superintendent (TBM) will be as follows:
- Degree qualified engineer (or equivalent experience).
- Some experience of engineering and/or construction on major infrastructure projects.
- Extensive experience on TBM works.
- Knowledge and experience of SCL tunnelling methods and processes.
- Knowledge and experience of site-based ES&H processes and procedures/regulations.
