Warehouse Operative in Derby, United Kingdom
Reporting to the Materials / Warehouse Co-Ordinator, you will assist in the preparation and distribution of materials to our internal bogie overhaul facility and external customers and be responsible for the safe movement of materials and bogies within the workshop.
This role best suits upbeat and self-motivated individuals who enjoy working systematically and productively.
Picking and packing products can involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching and lifting. Having a good range of mobility is important to ensure you can work safely within health and safety regulations without placing undue strain on your body.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of vehicles using manual handling techniques
- Ensure the materials storage/distribution area is well organised, tidy and compliant with the site policies
- Sorting and placing materials or items on to racks in the correct warehouse location
- Goods receipt
- Inspection of components/deliveries and booking in/out of components
- Ensure all materials are stored and protected in accordance with current best practice to prevent damage or deformation
- Allocate kits/components to the shop floor in line with the production programme
- Picking kits / components for customer orders from the storage space including moving to the loading bay for and packing them for transportation.
- Operating a forklift truck for the movement of bogies and rearrange stock and ensure that products are stored safely and labelled correctly and safely
- Performing warehouse inventory control including Stock counting and location checks using our computer systems to upkeep necessary records and reports
- Cleaning and maintaining warehouse equipment to set standards
- Issue and storage of central workshop tooling
- Consistently working to good standards of health and safety and meeting company warehouse standards and procedures
