What is the purpose of this role?

To assist the team to accurately install and maintain OLEMI, UK1 and Series 2 Overhead Line Equipment. Liaising with the Supervisor ensuring standards are met and give direction to OLEC 2 staff to deliver a safe, cost effective program of works. Ensuring all works are compliant as per NwR standards/campaign change documents, confirming accurate design tolerance to the required standards in a challenging environment. Ensuring consistent and accurate standard of work is delivered in a timely manner.

What will this role involve?
  • Assist in organising the activities, keeping the Supervisor/Construction Manager constantly updated on production progress.
  • Endeavour to achieve high levels of safety, performance, attendance and behavioural standards.
  • To promote safe working practices and ensure implementation and compliance to the Amey Safety Management System.
  • To ensure that all contract, technical and administrative instructions are implemented such as ITP documentation.
  • To ensure that high standards of housekeeping is maintained within working environment.
  • Maintain regular and appropriate dialogue and contact with the Supervisor in order to fully understand the Electrification projects aspirations and objectives.
  • Assist in ensuring that the Team delivers its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include financial, commercial, safety, engineering and personnel related issues.
  • Assist in the production of and submission of accurate shift reports as directed, in an agreed format and timely manner.
  • To liaise with team and client members as necessary to ensure the efficient running of the project.
  • Promote and develop positive working relationships within Network Rail.
  • Participate in improvements in Safety, Health and Environmental Management in line with the objectives set by the Construction Manager.
  • Participate in monthly safety briefings with all staff
  • Carry out regular safety checks and inspections as directed and close call reporting
  • Ensure any remedial works or repairs carried out on site are carried out in accordance with Rail Industry standard maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure any reactive maintenance carried out is promptly recorded & reported to the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.

  • PTS/COSS
  • OLEC 3
  • OTP core
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques
  • Must be able to drive
  • Flexibility with rostering and working shift pattens
  • Be able to work well under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • Computer literate

Experience

  • 10+years OLEMI equipment
  • Mark 1A experience
  • Mark 3B experience
  • UK1 and Series 2 experience
  • Familiarisation of ART 17th Edition
  • Must have a railway background
  • Understanding of Railway Operating Environment, Railway Planning systems, cost control and requirements, rail infrastructure including interfaces between disciplines
  • Working knowledge of the Rule Book.
  • Experience of operating different types of machines and knowledgeable on over-head line electrification
