Your New Role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent OLEC3 to join our Central Frameworks account in Birmingham – hybrid working.

Amey have a framework agreement with Network Rail for the past 7 years on West Coast Mainline (WCML) for OLE/E&P work between Crewe and Euston. We also have works in Birmingham New Street Station replacing all the OLE within the tunnels and a contract for ESIP where we are installing new motorised switches and taking out the old manual switches in different area’s on the WCML.

OLEC 3 plays an important part in assisting the team to accurately install and maintain OLEMI, UK1 and Series 2 Overhead Line Equipment. Liaising with the Supervisor ensuring standards are met and give direction to OLEC 2 staff to deliver a safe, cost effective program of works. Ensuring all works are compliant as per Network Rail standards/campaign change documents, confirming accurate design tolerance to the required standards in a challenging environment. Ensuring consistent and accurate standard of work is delivered in a timely manner

The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week.

You will be responsible for:
  • Assist in organising the activities, keeping the Supervisor/Construction Manager constantly updated on production progress.
  • To ensure that all contract, technical and administrative instructions are implemented such as ITP documentation.
  • To ensure that high standards of housekeeping is maintained within working environment.
  • Assist in ensuring that the Team delivers its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include financial, commercial, safety, engineering and personnel related issues.
  • Assist in the production of and submission of accurate shift reports as directed, in an agreed format and timely manner.
  • To liaise with team and client members as necessary to ensure the efficient running of the project.
  • Promote and develop positive working relationships within Network Rail.
  • Carry out regular safety checks and inspections as directed and close call reporting
  • Ensure any remedial works or repairs carried out on site are carried out in accordance with Rail Industry standard maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure any reactive maintenance carried out is promptly recorded & reported to the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.

We want to hear from you if you have:

A railway background with knowledge of risk assessment techniques, able to work well under pressure for extended periods of time, with flexibility to working shift patterns and a full UK driving license.

You will be a qualified OLEC 3 with a understanding of a Railway Operating Environment, Railway Planning systems, cost control and requirements, rail infrastructure including interfaces between disciplines and working knowledge of the Rule Book. Experience of operating different types of machines and knowledgeable on over-head line electrification is essential.

  • 10+years OLEMI equipment
  • Mark 1A experience
  • Mark 3B experience
  • UK1 and Series 2 experience
  • Familiarisation of ART 17th Edition
