Samuel Knight International are delighted to be recruiting for our client, an international brand with an expanding business. We have been engaged to hire a Paint Production Engineer for this world leading manufacturer who are Rail focussed.

This candidate will provide a technical service; improve productivity and probability performance improvements, implementing and developing process changes to the client’s major contracts to reduce costs of labour.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Technical support in respect of paint process and implement processes in support of operations/productions functions within the paint process.
• Assist the paint shop supervisors and management in carrying out necessary in process checks and governance needed to ensure a high level of quality to the customer’s vehicles is maintained.
• Manage and assist in maintaining Painted vehicles records and Test Panels.
• Ensure the paint meets the customer expectations, specifications and contractual obligations.
• Assist with housekeeping, safety and environmental audits.
• Provide an analysis of route cause on paint faults and train others within the paint team.
• Meet suppliers and understand technical specifications, which are required in the paint process.
• Work closely with the facilities team in maintaining a high level of efficiency with the paint equipment and facilities.
• Carry out risk assessments on new and existing processes using techniques such as FMEA.
• Compile material requirements, route cards and process sheets to ensure compliance to customers’ quality standards and achievement of budget probability.
• Manage and prepare the implementation of minor capital expenditure schemes.
• Review, update and control all relevant documentation within the process.
• Provide an estimating assistance for new contracts.
• Carry out process assessment/improvements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Assist the undertaking of make v buy assessments
• Support the team leaders on reduction of NVA.

Educational Requirements:

• HNC/HND in the relevant manufacturing discipline associated with Production Engineering/ Manufacturing management.
• Must have experience with Industrial Engineering techniques e.g. method study.
