Production Fitter in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
My client is currently seeking a Production Fitter for a contract position based in Leeds.
Reporting to the Production Team Leader - the Engineer ensures that products and solutions are assembled efficiently, safely, at the right cost and to the right level of quality in order to meet customer order requirements.
Tasks are varied and therefore an in-depth knowledge of mechanical power transmissions and other rotating equipment would be highly beneficial to the successful candidate.
The key requirements of this role are to have the ability to perform tasks, both internally and externally without supervision, taking an active lead role in training and mentoring others.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble and manufacture products in line with works order instructions requirements, to meet customer expectations.
- Efficient assembly in line with productivity improvements and capacity planning (achieve the required efficiency and utilization standards for production - i.e. performance/assembly to build times).
- Take responsibility for H, S & E and ensure control measures are in place. Actively support zero harm culture; specifically, the recording of near misses, reporting of accidents/incidents with completion of specific task risk assessments.
- Take ownership and responsibility for one or more H, S & E related tasks within a zone/s; if appropriate take responsibility of H, S & E designated Zone.
- Participate in any continuous improvement activities, including workshops and discussion groups relating to quality, cost and delivery performance. Assist and support the implementation and promotion of continuous improvement within both the production and field service environments.
- Awareness and contribution to Company targets in relation to quality, cost and delivery performance.
- Support, lead, train and mentor others (including apprentices). Lead by example and encouragement, ensuring that best work practices are introduced, maintained and improved
- Contribution and participation in production meetings as and when requested.
- Participation and involvement with company quality procedure nd standards, ensuring timely identification, communication and recording of all quality issues and non-conforming product (i.e. kitting problems, accurate completion of quality check lists, component quality etc). Ensure that all quality procedures are followed and adhered to at all times.
- Assist, support and promote 5's activities within both the production and field service environments.

- Sub Assembly,
- SGM (SIMOGEAR, MOTOX)
- Standard Gear Units (FZG, SIG, SIP),
- Wind Gear Units,
- Inside Service / Repair (including reporting and diagnostics)
- Outside Service / Repair (when called upon)
- Industrial Project Solutions (baseplate assemblies, alignment)
- Legacy Products
MISC OTHER TASKS:
- Machine Shop, Inspection and Test, 5's, HS&E (including Zones and Tasks), Training activities and Workshops.
