TXM Recruit are looking for an experienced Production Manager to join a leading manufacturer of LED solutions for Rail and Road across the globe. Our client provides a highly comprehensive portfolio of products, services and solutions predominantly for the Rail Industry.

Role Overview:
You will support the Head of Operations in implementing the business strategy across the site. Managing 3 Production Team Leaders, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational activity for the site ensuring effective use is made of human and material resources to meet customer requirements and business targets.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure all Operations project deliverables meet their quality, cost and delivery targets in order to meet customer requirements and specifications. Ensure a robust monitoring, management and reporting process is in place and exceptions to plan are reviewed and mitigated.
- Working as part of the Operations leadership team, lead, engage, inspire and motivate the Operations team to deliver step change business improvements.
- Conduct regular communications with the Operations team to develop Employee Engagement, establish effective communications and build employee capability.
- Continuously build the skills and capability of the team (either through recruitment or training and development) to deliver expected business results as per the corporate plan.
- Ensure all Operations organisation activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
- Lead and drive an environment of continuous improvement utilising the Unipart Way and ensure it is fully embraced to drive performance improvement and ways of working to sustain current business and generate further new business.
- Support the Head of Operations to drive the Operational Excellence Systems Thinking model across the Dorman Business Unit.
- Proactively collaborate with others (cross functional departments, external clients and suppliers, etc.) to develop and implement business wide decisions and/or projects in order to deliver corporate plan objectives, resolve operational issues and to explore and implement growth opportunities.
- Ensure health and safety of operatives is maintained at all times and that the working practices of the team comply with the Company disciplines and mandatory requirements of HS&E policies.
Essential criteria:
- Qualified to HNC level or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic engineering
- Previous leadership experience managing a large team with excellent people management skills. Ability to motivate, inspire and develop a team to deliver.
- Previous experience working in the engineering sector within Manufacturing/Production environment, preferably in a safety critical industry.
- In depth knowledge and experience operating a MRP system and production planning processes.
- Extensive knowledge and practical application of Health and Safety legislation and policies / procedures
- Solid IT skills
- Knowledge and application of lean manufacturing tools and techniques and the ability to lead / coach the team in their application.
- Proven experience in project delivery with excellent organisational skills
Desirable criteria:
- A relevant qualification in Health and Safety (NEBOSH / IOSH)
- Experience working with SAP
- 6 sigma green belt
