Assistant Project Manager Buildings and Structures

Location: Wales

Purpose of the role
The Project Manager will support the Project Manager Buildings and Structures in the development and delivery of all packages of Multidisciplinary asset renewals works. This will involve the efficient delivery of the renewals work bank as approved by TfW (the client) within the CVL network adhering to the renewal authority process. To support the development of a programme of work supporting successful project delivery through effective integration of Planning. The Project Manager will support the cost management and risk & value management activities in relation to renewals delivery as directed by the Project Manager Buildings and Structures. Contribute to the improved predictability and delivery of efficiencies through effective project performance measurement, evaluation and intervention activities.
About the role
1.Support the Project Manager Buildings and Structures in leading the Renewals Programme in relation to the safe and effective delivery of the renewals workbank.
2.Contribute to the integration of the support services within the work programme updating and reviewing the requirements of each project in development and/or delivery.
3.Actively working with multi-disciplinary teams including: design, environmental, consents, commercial, procurement, estimating, programme controls, engineering, survey, construction, health and safety; and others to identify and deliver solutions to meet client requirements and establish robust plans.
4.Support the constructability input into the design process to ensure safe buildability of the renewals workbank.
5.Ensure that engineering access requirements to deliver the project(s) is appropriate to meet timescales and safe working practises.
6.Contribute to the production of the delivery schedule to drive requirements to align with the wider engineering access and consents strategy
7.Monitor and provide timely data on project/programme performance to assist in determining causes of variance from plan.
8.Lead the formulation of corrective action plans and lead discussions with members of the Programme Team, and confirm their suitability and monitor effective implementation
9.Manage the implementation and updating of resource allocation plans needed for delivery of the workbank including identification and management of critical resource requirements. Secure the resources needed for projects from internal and external sources.
10.Establish, and implement protocols where required to change the scope of projects and updating configuration documents as required.
11.Support the development of excellent stakeholder relationships and ensure project solutions meet their respective needs where possible.
12.Line Management of Construction Managers.
13.Support CVL Infrastructure management in discharging its Principle Contractor duties under CDM Regulations 2015 (Construction, Design and Management Regulations).

What we are looking for
Essential:
•Knowledge of Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
•Excellent knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations
•Experience in change management and systems deployment.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Relevant experience of programme and project controls processes and systems

Desirable but not essential:
•Knowledge of and experience in rail industry processes.
•Knowledge of Network Rail’s Project, Investment, Commercial and Procurement practices.
•Knowledge of railway infrastructure assets and how they are managed, particularly Track Engineering.
•Knowledge of Project Management techniques.
•Membership of or working towards a relevant professional body membership with Chartered Status and/or educated to degree level
