As Master Supply Partner, PSR Solutions are proud to be working in partnership with the UK arm of this leading international and multidisciplinary infrastructure construction company, specialising in the development and delivery of key infrastructure projects across the globe such as railway construction and systems, roads, tunnelling and fibre optic networks.
Having worked on a number of the UK's most prestigious Major Projects and Alliance Partnerships (inc' HS1, HS2, Crossrail and Optical Fibre Deployment), they are seeing continual growth and opportunity in a pipeline of existing and tendered projects and Alliances.
They currently have a unique opportunity for a newly created position within their Head Office team for a Cost Manager.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Finance Director, the role of Cost Manager is a key position linking the Finance, Commercial and the wider delivery teams to successfully manage and report business and project costs.
As the ideal candidate you will be responsible for developing the role and for the following duties:
- Weekly performance reports, monthly cost against value reports, progress reports and budget analysis.
- Providing month end cost reports to the business, projects and relevant Joint Ventures. This will include checking and analysing the costs, checking that the cost allocation is correct and adjusting accordingly, raising cost accruals for month end reporting.
- Reviewing and analysing original budgets and cost plans to investigate where the costs should be.
- Monitoring subcontract orders to make sure that sufficient funding is available to allow payment and to cover future works. Compiling information for Commercial Managers for any variations or claims that are being prepared.
- Working with the Project Managers, Construction Managers & Engineers to ensure an accurate and robust ELF is presented on a weekly and monthly basis, on each contract.
- Identify, monitor and report on trends and implement change where required.
- Maintaining the Cost Management database and check that forecasts and budget costs align with cost flows for Earned Value purposes.
- Interface and provide assistance with contract administration on contractual issues and the status of any Change.
- Reviewing and interpreting project profitability status and associated variances to internal and external stakeholders
Key experience will include:
- Degree qualified in commercial, finance or accounting.
- Ideally Chartered or Membership with M.A Cost E or similar organisation.
- APMP or Prince2 qualified would be advantageous.
- Tier 1 construction industry experience.
- Knowledge of cost control and planning on Major Infrastructure projects in the UK.
- Extensive experience of Variance Analysis, Earned Value, CPI and SPI reporting.
- Updating period forecast against budget, preparing and updating project cost reports, and updating project variance.
- Preparing cost studies utilising historical data, statistical analysis and cost and quantity comparisons.
- Demonstrable understanding of project management procedures and systems, including relevant cost control tools and packages.
- Proven background in project commercial, accounting, finance, procurement, and contract administration.
