We are working with a global engineering business that now has an exciting opening in their team for an E&P/Traction Power Project Manager to join their team in the South West region. The purpose of the role is to to lead and manage route section areas of the the current project. You'll have full responsibility for the management of quality, programme, cost and project contribution and will manage and mentor the team.
This will be an initial 6-month contract (inside IR35) with a view to a further extension.
Principal responsibilities:
- To manage the delivery of all multi-disciplinary design activities
- Implement effective methods to successfully monitor, control and report upwards on delivery progress versus the agreed time and cost baseline. Identify and mitigate issues / risks to the programme.
- Act decisively to rectify any adverse circumstances that threaten the delivery and agreed programme.
- Maximise operating efficiency, ensure projects are delivered in compliance with the existing Project Management procedures, to agreed standards and targets.
- Develop current and future key stakeholder relationships.
- Responsible for budget forecast preparation and management
- Ensure compliance with statutory, contractual, legal as well as any special requirements.
- Ensure necessary scheme consultation, liaison, co-ordination and interface with stakeholders is carried out
- Ensure that contracts are in place before work commences including subcontracts and purchase orders for suppliers and sub consultants.
Key skills/experience required:
- Experience in the management of design projects for consultants
- Strong financial and commercial awareness
- Previous rail design experience (desirable)
- Experienced in the use of PM management software, MS Project, Primavera, etc.
- A leader in technical excellence
- Experienced in the production and delivery of technical papers and delivery of technical seminars
- Proven track record in the delivery of innovative approaches to solving client problems
- Client focused approach to service delivery
- Work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels within the business
- Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills
- Meng, BEng, MSc, BSc or relevant qualification
- Membership of a professional body
