On behalf of an esteemed client, Samuel Knight are recruiting a Rail Engineering Project Manager in the Midlands. The role will suit somebody from a strong survey or engineering background within the rail sector.

Responsibilities will be:

• Reporting to the Geomatics & Examinations Director, in the Examinations and Inspections Team, the Project Manager is responsible for delivery of projects on the railway infrastructure.
• Client facing duties include project management and acting as a technical advisor.
• The Project Manager shall provide technical and delivery guidance and motivation to delivery staff and clients.
• The applicant should have a full appreciation of wider rail engineering disciplines, including structures and specialist access techniques.
  

The successful candidate will have a flexible attitude to work, have an enthusiasm for new challenges and hold a background in rail engineering activities or management, ideally within the structures or specialist access field. A UK Driving License is Essential.

Key Accountabilities of the role will be:

Project management of rail logistics, examination and inspection projects, reporting of assigned work, and providing support to the wider management team.

• Technical checking & assurance of project deliverables.
• Liaison with subcontractors and suppliers
• Responsible for ensuring that project work is carried out in accordance with agreed technical and quality standards.
• Responsible for the health, safety & welfare of delegated staff assigned to their projects.
• Ensure that staff are briefed on technical aspects, safe systems of work and deliverables.
• To understand all the overall requirements of compliance with BCL policy.
• Undertake railway safety critical and technical duties for which you hold competence certification.
• Comply with training and other requirements of your Safety Responsibility Statement.
• Undertake other duties in accordance with the requirements of the company.
• Monitor the competence of the delivery team working on projects and provide functional guidance, direction and briefing.
