ITS Project Manager Highways

The Role

  • Play a key role in the management of our transport technology sector in Scotland
  • Overseeing our contractors to ensure high performance levels, value for money and delivery of the outcomes we want from our ITS.
  • Project manage critical ITS projects to support the oversight and development of the Traffic Scotland System.
  • Support decision making and strategy development around system obsolescence / investment, future systems architecture and connected / data services. Support the management / optimisations of traffic signals.

Qualifications

  1. Member of a relevant professional industry body.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience and expertise relating to ITS systems management.
  • Demonstrable relevant ITS project management experience in a roads (or transportation) environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, developing, and maintaining credible relationships and experience in providing advice and support to a senior level.
  • Demonstrable experience of contract management and successfully delivering a range of priorities in a complex and challenging environment with a flexible approach to team working.

Desirable

  • Expert knowledge relating to ITS systems development and application, including that relating to contemporary / emerging technology solutions, systems architecture, hosting and security.
  • Experience relating to the management, operation and optimisation of traffic signals.
  • Traffic system contract – technical IT services
  • Ensuring its secure
  • Ensuring software is up to date & working as it should
  • Responsible for managing the contract
  • Performance, service level agreements, developing the system as agreed
  • Client manager role – over seeing how contractors/supply chain are delivering
  • Assess future system & improvements/contributions/software solutions
  • Bit of contract management/intelligence and planning across system development.

Essential Criteria

  • Direct experience within ITS – traffic management systems, technology/software/hardware on how they work.
  • Managing types of services/technology.
  • Speak the language & understand
  • Traffic systems overseeing contractors to make sure signals are working efficiently & preventing delays.
  • Direct experience within ITS
  • Direct system experience – underlying tech, data, software/hardware
  • General PM capability – work with supply chain/stakeholders
  • Specific Technology experience
  • Bespoke TS system
  • Good handle on the way services are moving towards Cloud – contemporary understanding.
  • Traffic management systems towards road operations

Qualifications

  • Experience is more beneficial
  • Ideally – member of association within industry – doesn’t have to be chartered.
