Lead within the Control Centre for the North Alliance the delivery of the renewal work bank, providing the optimum support to meet the differing needs of the Alliance, Customers, Stakeholders and Suppliers in relation to the safe delivery programme .
Lead the Control Centre team to deliver real time support to all work sites across the Alliance
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the Control team on shift in order that the best decisions are being taken in relation to the safe delivery of the work bank
- Provide a business focus within the control environment in order that the controllers are able to deliver the best balance between the route and IP Track
- In the event of a major incident or severe disruption to the service support the Route Gold command Rail
- Lead the management of safety of the line incidents in accordance with safety standards and statutory requirements.
- Lead the control team dissemination of Safety Critical and other information, and introduce and maintain a system of recording operational safety and performance incident information in accordance with the relevant company standards, procedures and statutory requirements, to provide safety, performance and management reporting information at the required frequencies.
- Manage the development of appropriate contingency and recovery plans in times of falling behind the plan, to minimise overruns
- Contribute to the ongoing development of and maintain up to date operational and safety policies and procedures relating delivering S&C .
- Develop and maintain a programme of control staff training, to understand, develop and enhance existing skills and competencies, to control room operations.
- Deliver the competency assessment process, undertaking assessment of staff as directed by the Current Operations Manager.
- Chair all relevant conference call as required .
Essential
- A minimum of 5 years previous senior management experience of leading teams within a control, logistics or operations environment.
- Previous experience of strategic decision-making.
- Good negotiating skills and ability to make objective decisions.
- Able to manage conflict, influence others and work under pressure.
- Knowledge of Network Rail and Train Operating Companies within the Route and the key aspects of their business
- Appreciation of signalling, p.way and electrification disciplines
- Good geographical knowledge of applicable Route.
- Working knowledge of the Railway Operating Code service recovery and contingencyplanning processes
Desirable
- Previous experience of working within a safety critical communications environment
- Geographical knowledge of adjoining Routes
