M&E/MEP Assistant/ Junior Project Engineer in West Midlands, United Kingdom
M&E/MEP Assistant/ Junior Project Engineer required due to increased work load within the projects and business, offering clear progression and a great environment to work in.
Overview of role;
To, either independently or working with a Project Engineer, successfully deliver a complex multi-disciplinary project or a portfolio of smaller projects in accordance with company procedures and best practice guidance by working with, multi-disciplinary teams whilst maintaining excellent relationships with stakeholders and clients.
Role Duties
To ensure that job specific activities do not introduce unacceptable business and safety risks to any aspect of the company operation, or the staff therein, and to ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, in particular the Health and Safety policy for the client.
General Duties
- Understand your client’s requirements and the impact of the success factors of the project. Ensure you are able to deliver the scope with defined completion criteria, cost, and programme constraints.
- Assist Project Engineers with early-stage feasibility studies and option selection design work. Through carrying out site visits, report writing and assisting in the production of design work.
- Carry out the field engineer role for the various projects being delivered on behalf of the end client.
- Review M&E design drawings and ensure projects are being delivered in accordance with the designs.
- Take action to resolve problems and escalate issues through the appropriate channels.
- Ensuring all work complies with agreed standards (quality and specification).
- Deliver a safe working culture within project teams that you are part of and promote safety within all aspects of your work.
- Manage design work and ensure works are being completed on time, to budget and at a high quality.
- Assist in the production of multi discipline deliverables such as, Engineering Management Plans, CDM Plans and Hazard Logs.
Qualifications
Essential
- Possess, or working towards, an electrical, mechanical, or building services engineering degree, or a minimum of HNC in an engineering related discipline or relevant demonstrable success and experience in a similar role with relevant transferable skills
Desirable
- Membership of a recognised Engineering Institution (e.g., IET)
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification
Person Specification, Skills And Experience
- Knowledge of railway processes.
- Experience or exposure to building services construction.
- Excellent communication skills with clients, design team members and site staff and a willingness to challenge, when appropriate.
- Sound presentation and report writing skills.
- Experience of using MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project, or equivalents
- Ability to identify and address differences and assist in resolving conflicts.
- A desire to gain experience and develop in the role.
- Drive, determination, passion, flexibility, a positive mental attitude and takes pride in their work.
