Working for an industry respected contractor renowned for delivering outstanding mission-critical solutions in telecoms, power and signalling - predominantly in Rail, Utilities and Subsea environments.
To be suitable for the position you must have
- Proven experience as a Contractors Engineering Manager on Major Signalling & E&P projects.
- Extensive Rail Signalling Engineering experience either working in signalling design, installation or testing, with an in-depth knowledge of railway construction methods and materials
- Experience of working in signalling design, installation or testing, with an in-depth knowledge of railway construction methods and materials used
- Develop Risk Assessments to identify risks and hazards and advise on adequate control measures to ensure identified risks are managed and controlled to a tolerable level or suitably documented for transfer of ownership under CSM.
- Responsible for leading the relationship with the client DPE or equivalent role for all signalling engineering matters;
- Responsible for ensuring that signalling design, construction and test & commissioning deliverables remain coordinated both in technical content and in timeframe and where appropriate coordinated with other functions / discipline's deliverables
Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have;
- An (IRSE) Engineering Manager (Lead Engineer) or Project Engineer 1.2.230 IRSE licence
Role Information
- Take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of the project engineering needs for the business in accordance with agreed quality, budget and programme.
- Act as the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) for multi-disciplined and Electrification & Plant projects.
- Coordinate the engineering output & delivery to ensure that it is fit for purpose, constructible and that the design integrates with all appropriate disciplines.
- Manage the engineering programme for projects.
- Manage & chair formal engineering reviews for projects including IDC/IDR.
- Implement standards changes as appropriate to projects.
- Identify process improvements within the engineering function and assist with formal implementation.
- Identify training, recruitment and development needs of the project engineering team.
- Manage the formal handover of the AFC designs to the construction team (Delivery Engineer).
- Liaise with the Technical Support Manager to plan and arrange test resources for projects. Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standards.
- Implement processes and procedures described within the management system for projects / bids.
- Prepare technical, cost and programme information to support projects/bids.
- Prepare technical work scopes and remit sub-contractors as appropriate for project/bids. Liaise and assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects/bids.
- Act as mentor for staff.
