The role

To develop and implement the delivery strategy for Ancillary Civils across the TRU (Transpire) Alliance, West of Leeds Programme of Works. You will support where required the different projects in the various activities in GRIP stages 4 to 5, transitioning into the build phase for GRIP 6 delivery right the way through to GRIP 8.

You will lead the Ancillary Civils functional team to support the delivery of a safe and quality programme of works, exceeding our customers’ expectations in line with the business strategy during GRIP 6 delivery, handover and close out.

Key accountabilities

You will:

  • Support the safe and efficient delivery of all projects on the Alliance in accordance with the Transpire Alliance’s Goals, Values, and Principles.
  • Provide support to the Head of Track, Electrification and Ancillary Civils Team as required.
  • Be the Ancillary Civils point of contact and support Project Directors, the Track, Electrification and Ancillary Civils Project Leads, and other key personnel on all projects route wide.
  • Provide support on constructability to all Transpire’s Project Design Teams across the route.
  • Lead the Ancillary Civils Constructability Team on all projects route wide.
  • Lead on Temporary Works and Prep for Safety Initiatives for the Track, Electrification and Ancillary Civils Team on all projects route wide.
  • Lead recruitment and manage allocation of resources for Ancillary Civils, Temporary Works and Prep for Safety for the Track, Electrification and Ancillary Civils team on all projects along the route.
  • Lead on procurement of supply chain partners for Ancillary Civils on all projects along the route.
  • Support estimators and section proposal teams during the relevant phases of the project along the route.
  • Support programme and access planning team for all projects route wide.
Skills & experience

Essential:

  • Degree / HND in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Civil Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE).
  • Strong engineering knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the construction industry and/or rail industry.
  • Successful experience and performance at a Senior position.
  • Must be able to demonstrate leadership and management capabilities to manage a project or a portfolio of projects.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and be able to work in an open plan multidisciplinary environment.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of/experience in multi-disciplinary Projects within the UK railway industry.
  • Preferable to have both Ancillary Civils and Temporary Works experience.
  • Knowledge of/experience in Alliancing and Collaboration working on projects.
  • Project Management Qualification and/or Member of the APM or equivalent.
  • SMSTS / IOSH / NEBOSH qualified.
