Principal Project Manager
Location: WalesWhat Is The Purpose Of The Role
To lead and direct the delivery of the allocated W&B Transformation contract works
safely in accordance with legislation, Amey Procedures to contract specification
and programme, while building and sustaining long term customer relationships through continuous improvement and collaborative working.
What Will This Role Involve
- To undertake a leadership role within a cross-discipline team responsible for setting out the strategy for delivering the major milestone events for CVL Transformation and ensuring readiness for those events and key interventions leading up to them
- Effectively lead and line manage any direct reports, including training, development and
performance management.
- Ensure Works packages are effectively & efficiently integrated within the transformation
programme
- Timely submission of reports to an agreed format.
- To promote, through pro-active leadership, improvements in Safety, Health and Environmental
management in line with the objectives set by Amey,
- Display and develop in others a collaborative behaviour and culture.
- Contribute towards effective management of package performance and efficient working.
- Understanding customer requirements and clearly developing the project plan, scope and
- Ensure that all project activities from design to construction are performed within the programme requirements.
- Resolving issues by coordinating and integrating the relevant disciplines
- Ensure Stage Gate processes are adhered to for all relevant works in possessions and blockades
- Undertake Duty Management responsibilities for co-ordination of and reporting upon major works in possessions and blockades
What Are We Looking For
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Training:
- Proven track record in Project Management in excess of five years including multi-disciplinary projects or different disciplines in individual projects
- Good understanding of the construction / railway industry.
- Understanding of Railway Planning systems
- Good understanding of project planning techniques including time/chainage
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations
- Highly effective motivator with strong written and spoken communication skills
- capable of interfacing at all levels in the organisation.
- Exhibit behaviours that will support and develop collaborative working
Safety Responsibility Statement
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for ensuring the Safety, Quality, Environmental and Construction Phase Plans, Work
Package Plans and Task Briefs are accurately produced, approved and implemented effectively for allocated contracts.
- Participate in regular monthly safety meetings with the Account Director/Programme Manager.
- Cascade regular monthly safety meetings to Direct Reports.
- Ensure that accident and incidents reporting and investigations are undertaken in a timely manner as instructed and in accordance with the safety management system and that issues arising are addressed in a timely manner.
