I have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Director who can manage projects from cradle to grave within a rail rolling stock or product supplier to join their Sales department based in Coventry.

They are an award-winning business and a World leader in the design and manufacture of safety-critical equipment used in a wide range of applications within the Rail, Elevator and Industrial sectors.

Purpose of the Role:

The primary responsibility of the Project Director will be to manage and take ownership of the development and on-time delivery of projects from order receipt to point of first delivery. You will be tasked with planning and managing all activities of new products, regularly monitoring project timings and activities to ensure all internal and customer milestones/deadlines are achieved.

Project Director Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership for the on-time development, delivery and successful completion of all commercially driven projects.
  • Work to a standard project management process and take ownership of project planning.
  • Manage and motivate the cross-functional project team.
  • Carry out monitoring and control activities in order to track the progress of projects.
  • Identify and manage risks to ensure delivery is on time.
  • Close projects - including evaluating successes and challenges to enhance learning for the next project.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all external customers relating to projects, regularly updating customers on project progress.
  • Collate and contribute to the production of required documentation and technical information required by the customer during the development of a project.

Project Director Key Requirements:

  • Possess a degree qualification in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Project management qualifications are advantageous.
  • Strong project management experience - managing multiple projects from cradle to grave within a rail rolling stock or rail product supplier.
  • Proven track record in working closely with international colleagues and customers.
  • A positive can-do attitude with a drive to deliver customer satisfaction.
  • Strong communication, organisation, problem-solving, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and project management tools.
