Project Engineer - OLE
Location: Wales
What is the purpose of this role?
- To provide Engineering support to the site delivery team
- To ensure conformance to the specification and compliant delivery to programme by guiding installation staff support the CRE in all technical matters associated with the planning and engineering preparation works ahead of the allocated OLE works.
- To Support the Function Lead in the Analysis Pre installation and Post installation within the office
- To help with the Post installation processing of the as-builts and ensure that the Database of installed works is up to date
- Support and complete all the As-built records and mentor the OLE assistant engineer on site as required
- All activities to be carried out in line with all relevant Railway Group Standards, Network Rail Company Standards and in compliance with design & specifications.
What will this role involve?
- Work with / as directed by the Project Manager/Construction Manager
- Work as directed by the CRE
- Advise the Construction Manager / Supervisor on engineering requirement and specification issues, including marking out of sites and ensuring each stage of construction is acceptable and signed off before works progress
- Carry out analysis, prepare plans/programmes, detailed site surveys, review or check Particular Specification, designs or estimates, undertake site visits and progress work as directed.
- Identify any material changes due to As-built Post processing in the required timescales and manor
- Attend the TQ meeting as required - Raise TQ & FCN & NCR as required
- Discuss all construction and constructability issues with the construction team
- Identify any issues on site, stopping installation and measurement and provide full details to all TQ to be raised
- Control all on-site technical activities and quality control, including completing the Quality Checksheets and ITPs
- Provide sufficient site support to the project team (project manager, site supervisors, resource providers and sub-contractors) throughout the works to ensure that critical engineering decisions can be made in a timely manner and that issues arising can be dealt with to ensure compliance with a minimum of re-work.
- Follow all safety critical processes (OLE handback / form E etc)
- Refer any Design issues to the CRE / PM / CM.
- Refer non-compliances to the standards & Designs and all technical issue to the CRE.
- Ensure timely production and communication of reports, including the submission of technical documents for the Health and Safety file.
- Attendance at planning, progress and technical meetings as directed
- Attendance at engineering and technical briefing as directed
- Attendance at all training and induction courses as directed
- Assist in audits as directed
- Weekend / Night duty as per roster
- All foreseeable risks are identified and suitably mitigated
- Ensure that the construction work is delivered to the required quality and on-site quality checks are carried out.
- Achieve zero technical non-compliances and corrective actions under external technical audit
What are we looking for?
Essential:
- Understanding of the Railway Operating Environment
- PTS AC
- PTS DC
- OLEC 1, & OLEC 5 relevant to the area working within.
- Able to drive
- Understanding of OLE – Switching & Permanent Earth Section and Main Part Steel / SPS / Wiring
- Experience with UKMS, Series 1 and Series 2 OCS
- Ability to complete H&S surveys.
Desirable:
- Geographical knowledge of Territory.
- Computer literate.
- Working at Height
- Working as an OLEC 2/3 for 6 months OR a minimum of 12 months OLE design experience.
- Emergency First Aid
