A very intriguing job for a Railway Project Engineer, who will work on a series of frameworks for the largest railway infrastructure project in the UK. Working across 4 major new stations, you will deputise and support the Lead Project Engineer (LPE), managing a series of engineering frameworks that work across all 4 major stations, in a Common Component (CC) approach to aspects such as Lifts & Escalators (L&E), Communication Systems (Comms), Low Voltage (LV) & Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Platform Edge Doors (PED), Customer Information Systems (CIS), and Station Control Lines (SCL). Experience of a Standardised Design Approach (SDA) with Common Design Elements (CDE) will really make you stand out.
Interestingly, whilst you will be focused on these core centralised components, you will work with each individual Station Engineering Team as the components are further developed for each major site.
Working from Detailed Design to Scheme Design you will be getting involved as the Civil Engineering (Civils) aspects start to taper. A Mechanical & Electrical Engineering (M&E) background will be where you cut your teeth in engineering, and due to the scale it really is important that you have worked in the Rail Major Project space, on perhaps schemes in the range of £100m - £200m to truly appreciate the complexities. For example, I believe there will be c400 lifts and escalators across the estate.
Qualified to Masters (MSc), and/or Chartered (CEng).
You will find yourself in the core office, on major station site meetings, and working from home in this role, either attending and collaborating with the Lead Project Engineer (LPE) or representing the team solo. Consequently this exposure to the various M & E aspects of the newest major railway stations in the UK, will lead you to delve deep into the project and their wonderful opportunities internally to progress. CPD, Engineering forums and various role evolutions as clearly signposted.
