Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Network Rail in order to recruit a Project Engineer - Telecomms to work on a 12 month contract, WFH / London (3 days/week in office).
As a Project Engineer your role will involce/consist of;
To undertake NR’s Project Engineering Assurance Responsibilities and Accountabilities under the terms and intent of the NR Eastern Region ACE operating model, and in compliance with the requirements of the NR iELC process.
The post holder will carry out Project Engineering Assurance activities in line with the processes mandated through the NR Eastern Region ‘Engineering & Construction Management Plan’ (ECMP).
The post holder will also progress Project Engineering Assurance activities in compliance with the requirements of NR/L2/RSE/02009.
To monitor whether suitably qualified and experienced staff are employed to control engineering aspects of all projects within the functional discipline.
Day to Day duties
Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to deliver a cost effective, high quality and safe approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects. Review all relevant legislation and liaise with relevant governmental departments.
To undertake the activities of a Project Engineer on assigned projects within the functional discipline and provide functional guidance, direction and briefing.
Apply engineering controls and procedures to all projects so all design and construction contracts include reference to appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards applicable to their discipline.
Monitor all projects for compliance with Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards and Network Rail project control procedures.
Advise project and programme management in respect of all construction activities, testing and commissioning, and site supervision. Monitor whether the design and construction elements meet the requirements of legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
Monitor the competency of contractors’ design, construction and specialist personnel to assure the quality of supply chain outputs.
Undertake the duties of nominated design and construction / design construction engineer and undertake reviews of design and construction activities. Arrange audits of contractors to monitor whether safety and quality of design, construction testing and commissioning and management systems to provide assurance to relevant Network Rail standards and procedures.
Carry out the duties of designated project engineer (DPE) to fulfil the requirements of Network Rail engineering management standards and procedures.
Undertake the project categorisation for engineering, to determine level of engineering assurance to be undertaken on specific projects or programmes.
Key Skills
Project Engineer experience of detailed design through to construction test, commissioning in UK national railway.
Significant experience in operational telecoms (transmission & lineside telephony and concentrator systems, fibre & copper cabling and GSM-R systems in UK National Railway projects.
Significant experience in station information and security systems.
Experience of production of technical requirements and specifications for detailed design and construction works.
Demonstrate experience of production of reviewing and accepting evidence provided for design and construction against technical requirements.
Project engineer experience of detailed design through to construction test, commissioning in UK national railway.
Significant experience in operational telecoms (transmission & lineside telephony, and concentrator systems, Fibre & copper cabling and GSM-R systems in UK National Railway projects.
Significant experience in station information, and security systems.
Experience of production of technical requirements and specifications for detailed design and construction works.
Demonstrate experience of production of, reviewing and accepting evidence provided for design and construction against technical requirements.
Technical qualifications to at least HNC level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
Membership of a relevant professional institution (ICE, IMechE, IET).
Knowledge of or experience in engineering safety management and supporting UK railway legislation.
Demonstrable skills in initiating and building positive working relationships with customers, their team and stakeholders.
Demonstrable experience of supporting the physical and mental well-being and safety of themselves and colleagues and of challenging business and safety related risks.
Experience of undertaking activities for addressing complexity of the railway infrastructure system and sub-systems on multidiscipline projects.
