We're recruiting a Project Engineer specialising in Telecoms to join a project team heading up a project based in the South of England that has been recently awarded to ADComms.

General Description:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Telecommunications engineering environment preferably in the Rail industry to include design, construction, and test.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including Construction Design Management and Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Strong understanding of the need for Quality within the project environment and familiarity with the use and structure of Quality Assurance documentation.
- Must be well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Suitable relevant project experience within a Rail Telecommunications Engineering /construction Projects including the application of Project Management Processes.
- Suitable relevant technical experience including the preparation of technical documentation, the review of technical proposals and procedures, experience of surveying, construction, testing and commissioning activities.
- To manage the use of appropriate engineering standards in relation to design and commissioning, on all Telecoms related projects and check whether they comply with legislation, Railway Group and Network Rail company standards.
- Strong attention to detail
- Support projects through management of GRIP, Common Safety Method (CSM) submissions and CDM compliance.
- Knowledge of Telecoms DC Power systems and battery back Up
- Knowledge of Transmission Systems (SDH, PDH, High End Optical Networks)
- Knowledge of IP networks
- Extensive knowledge of Cable Networks – Fibre, Copper and Structured
Responsibilities:
As a Project Engineer, responsibilities will include:
- Reporting to the Engineer Manager will undertake and lead on Technical telecoms aspect’s on assigned projects acting as a single point of contact for engineering both field and design as well as client interface.
- Supporting the Project Manager in assisting with the delivery of design packages along with the physical implementation of the construction works and testing.
- Liaising with the Engineering Management CEM/CRE’s in the successful delivery of the contract technical requirements.
- Responsible for the production of product/project documentation including Functional Design documents, Installation Design documents, 'As built' records and handover documents, Work Instructions and Operations and Maintenance Manuals.
- Provide technical support to field-based resource to resolve survey, installation & commissioning queries
- To ensure all work is carried out in accordance to legislative and company procedures
- Attend progress meetings including kick-off meetings and others throughout project lifecycles as required
- Promote a culture of safe working practices across ADComms Projects.
- Provide support for new bids and tenders when required
- Participation in IDC providing information on any risk associated with the design within their own discipline.
- Interpretation of design and standards and application to design deliverables
- Advise project and programme management in respect of all Design & construction activities, testing and commissioning. Monitor whether the design and construction elements meet the requirements of legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
- Competent user of discipline specific technical software including CAD
- Innovative and Smart Engineering solutions.
- Able to communicate clearly in written, sketch and drawn forms to people at all levels
- Ability to troubleshoot and command onsite support with regards to Telecommunication Installation, Test, Commissioning and Integration on to operational Networks
Education Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Telecommunications Systems Engineering, preferably in a rail engineering environment.
- Skilled in design and implementation of high capacity multi technology Telecomms applications including but not limited to SDH, MPLS, DWDM/CWDM
- Degree or HND qualified in Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
- CAD/MicroStation
