The Project Engineer / Planner will be working with the areas of the project business team to plan, supply, analyse and manage project information on behalf of the various stakeholders.

Missions & Main activities

We are currently expanding in the UK and Ireland, growing our business and our team. EGIS RAIL Ireland will be providing Administration Support Services for the NTCC Traffic Management System (TMS), and we are now looking for a Project Engineer / Planner.

The role will based in Dublin, working from Heuston Station in Irish Rail offices.

The Project Engineer / Planner will work closely with Egis Rail UK and other Egis subsidiaries.

The Project Engineer / Planner is in charge of providing support to Project Managers concerning the Design Management (scheduling, reporting, interfacing, deadlines, risks etc.) to ensure a project runs on schedule and on costs.

The Project Engineer / Planner will determine and develop the most suitable and economically viable construction and engineering methods for projects. He/She will be involved throughout the development stages until the Tests and commissioning where He/She will be present on site to oversee procedures.

The Project Engineer / Planner will be working with the areas of the project business team to plan, supply, analyse and manage project information on behalf of the various stakeholders.

The role is responsible for all the design information management and also undertakes or assists engineers and experts on technical subjects.

The role supports the wider team with general issues, IT issues, logistics and coordination of technical tasks, and smaller scale projects/events.

This role may include working on projects internationally for Egis Rail or other Egis subsidiaries.

Responsibilities of the Role:

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:

Team coordination:

  1. engage with Project Managers, Design Leads and Project senior engineers to manage Team requirements and maintain Client expectations
  2. manage the coordination with the various stakeholders for scheduling of activities / meetings & workshops / information sharing
  3. foster good working relationships with stakeholders to be able to embed the Project Control and planning standards

Reporting:

  1. issue regular Schedules & Reports as required by Project Manager(s), Commercial Managers, Project Teams and Clients.Typical reports include, but are not limited to: Progress / Resources / Cashflow / Costs reports (Actuals; Forecast; Variance etc)
  2. challenge project performance data and turn it into relevant, high quality and accurate reports

Planning:

  1. estimate timescales, monitors the progress, review and update of schedules on a regular basis
  2. ensure all additional works (variations) are incorporated & impacted in the schedules
  3. ensure that deadlines are respected (deliverables, checks and validations)
  4. prepare progress narratives for all updated schedules
  5. manage and record schedule issues; Highlight any concerns with the relevant teams
  6. resolve cross-functional issues at planning level
  7. analyse Schedule and Cost performance, determining variance and its respective causes, and providing mitigating options if required
  8. support the bid team in the production of robust schedules, cost and resource plans
  9. create and practice, promote and uphold the Company standard of planning and scheduling

Costs monitoring:

  1. provide assistance to set up and maintain budgets and cost monitoring
  2. provide assistance for resources management
  3. provide assistance for monthly applications / invoices

Quality management:

  1. provide assistance to set up and maintain the quality control process

Risks and opportunities:

  1. facilitate and champion robust Risk and Opportunity management
  2. liaise with the risk manager for information sharing

Innovation:

  1. liaise with the innovation manager for information sharing

Sustainability:

  1. liaise with the sustainability manager for information sharing

Other:

  1. support the wider team on general issues, IT issues, logistics and coordination of technical tasks, and smaller scale projects/events
  2. undertake and/or assists experts/engineers for technical and feasibility studies/presentations and site investigations
  3. Site visits - submit site photos of the project progress on a regular basis
  4. formulate and support new business initiatives, taking the lead on some as required

You will have:

  • A relevant Degree.
  • Experience of working within construction or rail industries - E.g - Ground works, Foundations, Piling, Embankments, Level Crossings
  • Experience of supporting organisation to build and grow successfully
  • Experience of Project management
  • Software competency Required: Microsoft Project 2013/2016/2019 (highly skilled)
  • Knowledge of TILOS would be a plus
  • Experience in planning and industry standard planning techniques
  • Experience in successful planning of complex technical Projects
  • Experience in enterprise business management tools and advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365 – Excel in particular
  • Ability to analyse performance data and define root variance causes and impacts
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with team members within the Function and Project Team
  • Demonstrable listening and communication skills to all levels, capable of working in an integrated multi-functional team
