We are looking for an experienced railway professional to join the growing Northern team. Our client work with a range of clients from train operating companies to infrastructure owners like Network Rail.
The opportunity we are currently looking to fill is to support the engineering development of schemes in the equivalent of Network Rail GRIP 3 / 4 / 5 stage. The schemes have a focus on capacity improvement therefore experience in signalling, and track passing loop installation would be beneficial.
The successful candidate will be undertaking a Network Rail Project Engineering role therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate previous experience in undertaking this role.
Job Description
What will you be doing:
The successful candidate will be discharging the role of a Network Rail Project Engineer as detailed in Network Rail company standard NR/L2/NR/L2/INl/02009 - Engineering Management for Projects.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in delivering a Network Rail Project Engineering role working in the design and/or construction phases of a project.
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate how they have worked on projects so that they meet the relevant engineering standards and additionally satisfied the broader specification of the client of safe timely delivering to budget.
Candidates will also be able to demonstrate skills in supporting the overall project team through using their engineering knowledge to collaborate on programme development, construction methodologies and supporting the procurement and management of design and construction contracts.
A business that succeeds through the development of people and identifying and sharing best practice therefore candidates will either be able to demonstrate experience in line management, mentoring or sharing and implementing best practice.
Must
- Experience working in Network Rail.
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Results orientated with ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Successful relevant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas.
- Knowledge of quality assurance.
- An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
- CDM, risk assessment, auditing internal and external competency.
- CITB CSCS scheme.
Preferable
- Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
- An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
- Project safety management experience
Qualifications
- Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
