Missions & main activities
We are currently expanding in the UK and Ireland, growing our business and our team. The Project Management Assistant will support the delivery of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract, within our partnership with The Midlands Metro Alliance. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (two additional lines).
This exciting role for a Project Management Assistant will work within the Midland Metro Alliance (MMA) Systems Team, to support the Systems Engineering Lead by coordinating the requirements of each of the projects within the MMA and providing a high-quality service to all stakeholders.
The Project Management Assistant will work closely with Egis Rail UK and other Egis subsidiaries. The role will also require supporting the organisation to build and grow.
Key role responsibilities
This is an initial 6 month fixed-term contract supporting The Midlands Metro Alliance (MMA) project, where the main duties are:
- To coordinate the Systems Team’s programme, drawing on the various programme demands for MMA projects.
- Ability to understand MMA project and programme schedules and able to support the transposition to a Systems Team specific programme. The Systems Team programme will clearly show the MMA programme expectations for each discipline and for each line project.
- To identify resource or time constraints on the Team escalating to the Lead Engineer for resolution.
- To coordinate the Systems Team discipline inputs to the various MMA project reports collating the discipline engineers’ status reports.
- To assist the discipline engineers with document control issues, liaising with the MMA Document Controller.
- To collate Systems Teams’ KPIs and other indicators as required for management reports.
- Able to support the development of team budgets as required by the Lead Engineer.
You may be required to undertake other such duties as the organisation may reasonably require.
No formal qualifications are essential to this role, but relevant courses and experience will be advantageous.
Experience and knowledge:
- A well organised and self-sufficient individual with specific experience of team coordination within a similar role.
- Some relevant experience of project management.
- Good communicator who is confident with liaising with all levels of an organisation.
- A railway, transportation or construction background would be an advantage.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office, particularly skilled in Word and Excel.
- Experience of MS Project would be an advantage, or equivalent/similar software such as Primavera P6.
- Experience of budgetary control is an advantage.
- Experience of supporting the organisation to build and grow successfully.
