Project Manager - Digital Systems – Rail
Introduction
As the company now proceeds through the final stages of commissioning, most of the complex sites and systems have undergone final testing and are being handed over to the operator.
The programme and operator have built or are in the last stages of implementing the operational technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems that will be used to run and manage the railway.
As such an information systems management programme is in place to ensure successful to ensure successful transition to support and additional project/programme management capability is required to manage identified workstreams.
Purpose of the Job
Work with the Head of Digital Systems and the Information & Management systems programme manager to refine the scope of additional workstreams and apply formal project management techniques to ensure items are delivered to plan and benefits realised.
Principal Accountabilities
- Form a plan for the relevant project workstream, identifying deliverables, milestones, stakeholders, risks and issues.
- Quickly understand governance within overall programme and manage project resources tightly, ensuring actions are chased up and escalated swiftly if not carried out.
- Carry out programme level activities as appropriate in support of Programme Manager/Head of Digital Systems.
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to Target Zero principles.
- Cooperate in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.

Person Specification
- Ability to effectively organise and staff a project team in a matrix organisation.
- Knowledge and understanding of standard project management tools, techniques and procedures including: Scope definition, Roles and Responsibilities, Project Controls, Stakeholder Management, Risk and Issues Management, Reporting and Action item tracking.
- Knowledge and experience of software development, technology infrastructure and Cyber Security implementation within a large complex regulated environment.
- Qualification Prince2/AMP desirable
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders across domains
