This role is responsible for managing project(s) across London Rail Projects with a combined value of up to £30million
across all modes within London Rail. The role will have responsibility and accountability for safely delivering the projects to
time, budget, scope and quality, and supporting the Programme Manager - London Rail by optimising the allocation and
utilisation of project and programme management professionals, subject matter experts and external suppliers.
The role deputises for the Programme Manager - London Rail as required, ensuring project and resource plans are
managed and monitoring delivery against the agreed plan, whilst also ensuring that all contractual and TfL obligations are
delivered. As the role will cover project work across all modes within London Rail the post holder shall be flexible in terms
of movement and location of work to successfully deliver assigned projects.
1. Manage a portfolio of infrastructure projects to time, budget, scope and quality with an indicative combined annual value
of up to £30 million.
2. Providing effective performance and development management responsibilities for assigned Assistant Project Managers
and/or supporting staff with regards to appraisals, performance management, capability development and succession
planning.
3. Directing the day-to-day work of assigned Assistant Project Managers and/or supporting staff.
4. Lead the day-to-day management of the development of assigned projects in line with agreed plans and budgets,
including: assuring the quality of all deliverables and outputs; managing project risk; supporting the review of the business
case and managing and agreeing any changes / deviations in scope with the sponsor / client team; and managing the
transition process of the project back to the client at completion.
5. Managing the day-to-day relationship between the project team and the sponsor / client team, using the agreed project
governance and working practices that enable both the sponsor and delivery teams to discharge their responsibilities
effectively and achieve desired project outputs and outcomes.
6. Creating the periodic cost and programme forecasts for projects in development, working with project controls colleagues
in the Programme Management Office to ensure the implementation of a holistic and comprehensive project delivery model.
7. Managing external suppliers and delivery partners to ensure they deliver outputs in line with the terms of their contract,
resolving issues as they arise or escalating as appropriate.
8. Leading key internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure successful delivery of projects.
9. Identifying and escalating best practice and risk management suggestions and assisting in the management of project
risk.

Good knowledge of, and experience within, the UK rail industry; including safety issues in operating railway environment

transport setting

Good understanding of TfL project management and governance processes
Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction or related discipline, or equivalent qualification.
Higher Professional Qualification in Project Management e.g. IPMA Level C, MAPM.
