The Public Transport Authority of Western Australia (PTA), is an innovative Government Agency and a highly sought-after employer offering once in a lifetime opportunities to work on major rail infrastructure projects. The PTA is looking for qualified and experienced engineers and transport professionals to help grow and maintain the state’s public transport network.
In addition to maintaining the existing network the Government has recently commenced a major program of rail projects named METRONET with the aim of updating & extending the Perth metropolitan rail network and is looking for experienced rail engineers across a number of disciplines to help deliver these exciting phases of work
We are looking to hear from Planning & Controls PM's interested in emigrating to Australia or relocating interstate to Perth. This position provides support with the management of low to medium risk projects (including contract management) associated with major infrastructure projects undertaken by the Major Projects Unit as well as liaises with project teams of in-house and private sector professionals to plan and deliver major infrastructure projects for the Public Transport Authority.
Core duties and responsibilities:
Project Management
- Provides specialist advice on project management issues.
- Provides advice and guidance to Project Directors and Managers on time and cost management in projects.
- Proactively investigates and reports on issues and potential risks to project success.
- Undertakes research and prepares project specific reports as required.
- Ensures a consistent approach to the application of the PTA Project Management Framework across all projects.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of PTA’s polices, strategies and standards related to project management.
Leadership and Management
- Monitors and ensures compliance with required regulations, standards, codes, corporate policies and procedures, including Railway Safety Management and standards.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of Divisional policies, strategies and standards as they relate to project management and contracting.
Time and Cost Reporting
- Maintains accurate high level project schedules for MPU projects utilising project management software.
- Coordinates project schedules and works programs including budget and cost information, Critical Path analysis, and risk assessment of “what if” program scenarios.
- Assists with the identification of schedule issues and issues resolution.
- Coordinates program and cost information from MPU Project Managers and liaises with these managers to review and update project schedules.
- Reviews, updates and reports on project costs and cash flow using the scheduling software including budgets, commitments, actual expenditure and forecast final costs.
To be suitable for the role:
- Good understanding in the time and cost management aspects of the planning, design and construction of public transport infrastructure.
- Relevant project and/or contract management experience.
- Understanding of, and experience with industry standard scheduling, project and contract management software.
- Eligibility for Professional Membership of the Australian Institute of Project Management or extensive professional project management experience.
- Leadership and management experience, including the capacity to lead, mentor and coach others, as well as the ability to effectively manage resources.
