About the Job
- Your role will be to lead the safe delivery of projects to achieve cost, time and quality objectives within corporate guidelines and to develop appropriate delivery and supply strategies and plans for specific projects.
- You will manage key aspects of the project plan comprising designated work packages or projects, including the identification of gaps, conducting reviews and putting actions in place to ensure the programmes deliver on cost, to time and to the required standard. You will undertake aspects of project delivery as identified in project plans and as allocated by the Project Director.
- Your responsibilities will be focused on coordinating people and actions, creating reports and attending update meetings. You will also develop relationships with clients and your team which will allow you to identify risks and opportunities through your networks.
- You will be responsible for tracking and administration in the form of action plans, reports, emails, Microsoft Projects and other business-critical tasks. The projects we deliver can have complicated structures and demanding work schedules so you must be willing to put in the extra effort needed to reach milestones and bring projects in on budget and within its predicted completion date. That said we are a supportive team who understand the challenges of the role and who allow flexible working and open communication to get things done.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the projects safely to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Railway Group, company standards and other specific legislation.
- Provide a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management service to the clients, including project monitoring and reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group, company standards and guidelines.
- Participate in the development of supply strategies and framework contracts.
- Provide detailed input for compilation of the business plan and production of the possessions plan.
- Control project change, risks and contingency within the project life cycle and provide all cost, contingency and programme details.
- Provide a safe working environment in the execution of work directly under the post holders responsibility, including the development of project safety plans and other associated documentation.
- Assist the Company in discharging its duties under CDM Regulations 2015 (Construction, Design and Management Regulations).
- Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
Your experience will include:
- An excellent understanding of the principles of effective project and programme management.
- You will either be an Assistant Project Manager or established PM with real experience in project/programme management within the built environment.
- Experience of management on construction contracts including the use of NEC3 and conducting site monitoring and contractor management.
- You will need experience of rail-related project experience that includes the management of rail-related disciplines including OLE, Signals, Track and Civils.
- Ideally with both Contractor and Consultant experience.
- Experience in working with rail and transport stakeholders including Network Rail, TfL, DfT and Train Operating Companies. Ideally, this will have included direct secondments to operating companies or service providers.
- Direct experience in developing Business Cases and Infrastructure Asset Management Plans.
Essential
- Relevant successful experience in project management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detailed knowledge of Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.
- General knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
- Team leader capable of motivating the team.
- Commercial and financial understanding and knowledge.
- Accident Investigation experience.
