Project Manager Transformation (Infrastructure)
We are currently working with a major engineering contractor who are looking to recruit a Project Manager Transformation to join the team working in the Bristol Depot. The role will be working within The South Rail Systems Alliance (SRSA). As Project Manager you will be leading the safe delivery of the Transformation Projects to achieve the required cost, time, and quality objectives within corporate guidelines and develop appropriate delivery and supply strategies and plans for specific projects, ensuring that all alliance principals are maintained. You will also be required to undertake the day-to-day management of all projects works which have been assigned.

As Project Manager you will be leading the safe delivery of the Transformation Projects to achieve the required cost, time, and quality objectives within corporate guidelines and develop appropriate delivery and supply strategies and plans for specific projects, ensuring that all alliance principals are maintained. You will also be required to undertake the day-to-day management of all projects works which have been assigned.
As Project Manager Transformation your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the regions Efficiency Programme and ensure that the Efficiency Target is achieved.
- Support the regions team with identifying efficiencies and provide guidance on the appropriate way to report them.
- Lead the Efficiency periodic meetings and encourage periodic reporting of efficiencies.
- Identify the most appropriate way to record efficiencies and produce executive reports.
- Manage the Digitisation Programme to include line management of App Development Engineer. Support with the implementation of the digitisation tools in the relevant region, ensuring that the digital tools (such as digital reporting, digital paperwork, speedy sign in/out, etc.) are used on a regular basis
- Produce business cases for innovative technology and present those to the relevant Alliance members in the relevant region
- Ensure that the teams delivery plan is updated with latest projects and delivery statuses
- Work with the other team members, support transparent communication and work towards a common goal
- Deliver the project(s) safely to time, cost, and quality, in accordance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Railway Group, Network Rail company standards and other specific legislation including construction design management (CDM) Regulations
- Apply the principles of sound Project Management taking overall accountability for Cost, Quality and Timeliness in collaboration with the Project Manager
- Support the relevant region with innovative technology trials and with the identification of solutions in instances where trials are unsuccessful.
- Support the relevant region with the implementation of innovative technology in instances where trials have been successful.
- Lead on innovative technology discussions with external suppliers.
- Manage Decarbonisation Programme, to include the installation of solar panels, EV charging points and other sustainable solutions as appropriate in the relevant region. Encourage the utilisation of video conferencing and the use of video cameras in the relevant region.
- Use Microsoft Office 365 package to create solutions to reduce paperwork, streamline existing processes and encourage efficient working.
- Support the Head of Transformation with additional projects and be prepared to represent where unavailable.
- Provide a professional, first class, consistent and effective project management service to the clients, including project monitoring and reporting systems in accordance with Railway Group, Network Rail company standards and guidelines.
- Participate in the development of supply strategies and framework contracts.
- As you will expect, the organisation may change from time to time, and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements
- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
Job requirements:
- Relevant successful experience in project management.
- Relevant experience for the specialist area of innovation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Detailed knowledge of safety regulations (particularly CDM)
- Team leader capable of motivating the team
- Commercial and financial understanding and knowledge
- Demonstrable successful industry management experience.
- Demonstrable experience of the implementation of health, safety, environmental and quality management processes.
- Contract and commercial awareness.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in the site environment.
