Job Purpose:

The Project Manager will work to deliver installation and manufacturing of signage within the operational railway.

You will work with numerous internal and external stakeholders, which will offer the successful candidate significant opportunity to implement a range of existing skills and develop further professionally.

You will assume responsibility for the delivery of one or more geographical areas of the railway coordinating the detail design, construction and handover of multiple assets types to provide Infrastructure within the designated area. Safety, quality and timely delivery will be key to success within the complex environment of an operational railway.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Experience in delivering large multi-disciplinary projects
• Full project lifecycle experience in a multi-disciplinary construction / built environment setting
• Commercial sector preconstruction building environments experience working for good companies
• Experience of managing design and build construction projects and interfaces
• Must be pro-active and have the ability to work independently.
• Understanding of the impact of decisions on commercial and schedule
• Previous experience of large scale signage or construction projects
• Knowledge and experience of using the NEC 3 contract, including Professional Services
• Ability to plan and manage tasks to time, budget and quality
• Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions and produce reports
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally
• Ability to build effective working relationships, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally

• Experience of leading and managing teams
• Awareness of safety issues in an operating railway environment is desirable
• Comprehensive experience in fulfilling the Principal Contractor role under CDM 2015.
• A good working knowledge of London Underground structures, operations and procedures is desirable.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

• To manage the financial requirements of the project during its life span. This can include putting payment applications to the client for payment, instructed accounts to invoice, capturing additional works carried out in the job to ensure payment, ensuring all sub-contract costs are at a minimum adhered to, but would expect bettered.
• To liaise with clients on a face to face basis to understand their expectations, report on continued progress of the project, ensure all expectations are met as a minimum, give them confidence their project is being looked after.
• To work closely with the in-house production and design teams to ensure that all drawings are issued in a timely manner, are drawn to specification and to the requirements of the works, ensure production understands the deadlines and mile stones required for installation and manage internal expectations of time lines.
• To carry out the undertaking of on-site Risk Assessments for project works and the creation of Method Statements and Risk Assessments to form a Safe System of Works that can be submitted to the client for review and approval.
• To brief all installation teams on the project works either on site through a walk about or at the office for smaller projects. Ensure they understand the expectations, time lines and importance of reporting all site works back.
• To carry out all Method Statement and Risk Assessment briefing to the installation teams prior to a project commencing on site
• To collate all site reports, photographs and issues from the installation engineers and act on these accordingly to ensure the timely and successful completion of the project, ensuring any additional works and costs are captured and charged accordingly to the client.
• To trouble shoot at night over the phone should an issue arise on site that requires immediate assistance to the Installation Engineer.
• To establish any specialist equipment or logistic need ahead of commencing works on site, and to book those in line with the project budget and time line.
• To establish and run an efficient and effective installation schedule for all installation teams and any sub-contractors required. Ensuring any short falls in resources are recognised and addressed at an early stage and in line with budget requirements of the works.
• To use of the Company’s MIS (Management Information Systems) to record all documentation relating to the project, ensuring the job has been correctly specified at the outset and monitoring the project through production.
• To use Microsoft Project to produce detailed project times line for office use and submission to the client. Updating and monitoring the programme and reporting back to the client on progress against agreed milestones.

Daily tasks:

• Plan own diary and management of time effectively
• Check own actions planned or executed
• Collate all site reports and update clients with project progress.
• Issue photos to the Drawing office for completion packs to be created
• Store all documentation and photos in the relevant clarity files

Weekly tasks:

• Attend production meeting to receive update on Projects going through production and advise on any potential changes or upcoming works
• 121 Meeting with Directors to advise on projects status
• Brief Installation crews on all upcoming site works and installation schedule
• Update Installation schedule with future planned works

Monthly tasks:

• Report to directors on % of actual projects completed against planned number of project completed.
• Report on number of snags received and number of site revisits
• Details reasons for snags/revisits and plan on how to eliminate these going forward
• Detail any plant/sub-contractors used that were not allowed for within any works and why they were used and how we can mitigate that going forward.

Quarterly tasks:

• Review and update training matrix, detailing any Gaps in training or upcoming pass renewals required
• Report to directors number of projects carried out of the QTR, value of projects and the margin on the projects.

Other tasks:

• Attend internal company meetings as necessary
• Attend client meetings / presentation as necessary
• Attend site meetings as necessary
• Carry out small survey works as necessary

What you can Expect from the Role

3. You will primarily be based at the main office in Hastings, East Sussex.
4. Your remuneration package will be £38,000.00 - £45,000.00 per annum and depending upon experience.
5. Mileage will be paid at .45p for the first 10,000 miles and then .25p per mile thereafter for travel required for Company business but does not include travel to the office.
6. Expenses will be re-imbursed if they are incurred for work, full receipts will need to be provided.
7. Auto Enrolment 2017 into our work place pension scheme.
8. Your normal working hours will be 08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday. There may occasionally be night works or works at weekends when the project requires it, although there will be plenty of notice.
