Position: Project Manager Rail
Location: South East & Anglia

BACKGROUND
COOMBES are a Principal Contractor and Framework Contractor to Network Rail. An incumbent contractor successful in maintaining and delivering major de-vegetation, minor civils and structures works throughout the Southeast and Anglia Routes. We are winning an increased amount of Civil Engineering works and on the back of this development, we are looking for a Projects Manager with commercial experience and a proven track record in delivering projects within: Earthworks, Embankment Stabilisation, Structures, Culverts / Tunnel Repair Work / Tenanted Archways.
THE POSITION & REQUIREMENTS
This is a permanent role within a company that has developed a strong history contracting to Network Rail. We are looking for the right person to play a key role within our management team in the delivery of similar rail infrastructure projects, to have experience of and be responsible for the following:
Extensive Project Management experience on multi-disciplinary rail projects
Preparation of proposals, tenders and contract negotiations through to award (essential) & scoping of sites
Produce a contract programme within the timescales set out by the contract and provide client with contractually determined up-dates
Monitor progress against the project programme and budget, identifying and mitigating adverse trends through effective corrective management action
Management & planning of contract resources and activities to meet productivity, financial, environmental and quality targets.
As a Project Manager, lead day to day communication between the project team and clients, establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship
Checking of designs and drawings
A thorough knowledge of construction Health & Safety legislation, ideally with both relevant qualifications (NEBOSH, etc) and experience of Health & Safety in the railway environment.
Engage and manage suitable sub-contractors
Commercial awareness and aptitude with the ability to contribute to commercial and contractual issues, drawing upon past experience with railway / engineering contracts.
Register / raise Early Warning Notification and raise Change Requests as per Commercial procedure
Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and direct staff
Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering/similar subject or HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
PTS, SMSTS, and First Aid
