Project Manager in Newport, Newport, Wales, United Kingdom

Project Manager

South West and South Wales

Salary £55,000 - £65,000 Subject to experience + Benefits

An outstanding opportunity for an experienced Project manager to take on greater autonomy of framework delivery within a rapidly growing contractor within the region.

The Role

As Project Manager you will contribute to both bid and operational activity.

Working closely with the Regional Management team, you will be developing the pipeline of projects using a sophisticated tender management tracking system (supported by a regional BD Manager). You will play a key part in investigating tender opportunities and provide technical submissions and programmes into competitive tenders on the CAM and BAM framework.

Operationally, you will have full support from a regional Commercial, Planning and Operational team to deliver secured work, managing the current portfolio with a team of Supervisors and Site Managers who will be your eyes and ears on site for work delivery.

You will play a key role in programming works, allocating labour and check all key paperwork for sites (Ideally as a CRE for construction)

Schemes will include:

  • Building maintenance (M&E, Fabric, handrails, facilities)
  • Platform refurbishments/extensions
  • Canopy & roof refurbs and new build
  • Embankments

As Project Manager you will be primarily office based, with travel to sites for walkouts with the clients and tours.

You will ensure a SHEQ culture on your schemes to the highest of standards and drive this ethos throughout the team.

The Company

A privately owned, primary contractor is currently looking for 2 Project Managers to join their team based in the South West and South Wales to work on several asset management projects (CAM and BAM frameworks) in the regions.

2021 presents growth opportunities for this organisation due to increase in asset management Frameworks and Project wins within their rail division. This will see them emerge as as a critical supplier throughout the Wales and the Western region in the next few years. With a predominant focus of structural engineering, preparation, and coatings along with Civil Engineering and scaffolding, this organisation will be able to provide exciting career opportunities aligned to infrastructure investments ahead.

Remuneration

  • Salary of up to £65,000 dependant on experience
  • Company Car or Car Allowance
  • 25-day holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Health Care
  • Life Assurance

The Ideal Candidate

The Project Manager I am looking for will have prior experience of asset management works within the rail industry. This will be from a tier 1 or tier 2 contractor experience.

Ideally you will be degree qualifies within Civil Engineering or equivalent, with Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) status to be able to contribute to technical submission.

This can be UK or Oversees rail experience, but some UK experience is essential.

This project management role will suit someone who is looking for autonomy to run projects and CAM/BAM frameworks without the layers of bureaucracy associated with larger organisations. This is a genuine opportunity to make projects your own and establish yourself as a strategic leader within their rail division.

The Next Step

The client has committed to interview candidates before Christmas with decisions to be made in early January.
