Job Description
- Track progress of Requirement Management (RM) activities so that it shows that latest status in reports.
- Make sure that contractual and time requirements for the project are respected, as RM queries, will need to be fed back to the building block.
- The interface between building block owners and Safety, Design Assurance and RM team.
- Produce a related KPI report as required by the project.
- Act as the single point of contact for the customer for all matters relating to RM acting on behalf of the EA PdM.
- Ensure Customer comments are received and reviewed, for applicability, prior to being addressed or sent to the respective engineer for review. Where not applicable the role requires firm engagement with the customer.
- Drive progress with the Customer to ensure they are respecting contractual and time requirements for the project by promptly closing comments that make against specifications.
- Hold regular customer meetings to review all Customer comments and determine what can be closed. Track their progress, such that it is traceable
- Management of RM deliverables – manage the commitments given by the BB Owners (e.g. updating a specification) and ensure they are delivering to those actions such that a final deliverable can be achieved. Identify and secure all necessary resources and capabilities needed to deliver the work packages, through the Building Blocks, such that project timescales are respected. Implement the necessary governance to rigorously ensure that Type Test documents are delivered as per expectations (i.e. to the right quality) and that resolutions are implemented to address deviations from plan.
- Resource Management - Diligently ensure that all engineering activity needs for RM documentation are collected and accurately represented in an associated A&D Log or plan. Hold the Building Block/Function to account for the implementation of a dynamic resource management resolution to enable reallocation of resources from one activity to another, where this is in the best interest of the business to do so. Ensure prompt escalating of resource issues that cannot be managed within the Building Block/Function currently agreeing both long term and short term actions for resolution.
- Leadership - Provide strong leadership to close out customer comments within Project timescales. Set exemplary leadership behaviours, by demonstrating “what good looks like” and by operating a continuous improvement to Type Test documents. Build and maintain effective working relationships with, with emphasis on the relationships with the Building Block/Functions and the Customer.
The following is a provisional list of deliverables required:
Planning
Develop and maintain Engineering plan in P6 in line with project and EPM requirements. Supervise other Engineering planners involved with the project.
MCRS
Weekly reviews of time bookings to the project to ensure they are accurate.
Medium and Long Term planning
Updated monthly EAC pack and reviews with Project.
EAC
Report resource issues in resource shortfall reporting tool and attend weekly resource hotspot meetings.
Resource Shortfall Reporting
Lead and/or support daily Engineering MCRS meetings.
Work Package
Review and approve all work packages raised by Engineering functions.
Invoices
Review and approve all invoices related to Work Packages
Qualifications
- Strong and long standing Programme / Project Management experience, preferably from within the Rail industry
- DOORS (software) experience and PDM is mandatory
- A Bachelor's Degree of a relevant engineering discipline or business management related qualification is expected
- Solid understand of the Rail Industry, it's processes and requirements
- Financial Acumen
- Expert User in Project Management and Planning tools like Primavera P6

Salary: £50 - 60K pro rata, DOE
