Project Manager in York, United Kingdom
Project Manager (Rail Depots and Stabling) York
At Northern, we play a vital role across the North by providing a reliable and friendly train service that helps hundreds of thousands of people to go do their thing. That's over 2,000 services every day, travelling to over 500 destinations.
We're here to make a positive impact for the North. And that means building a different kind of workplace. One that values individuality and celebrates differences. Somewhere we can work together, have fun, and do whatever it takes to make our customers’ lives easier. A place that encourages everyone to learn, grow and develop so we can all be our best every single day.
So, if you’re smart, forward thinking, passionate and full of fresh ideas like we are, you could play your part in making it happen.
As a TRU Depots and Stabling Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a number of infrastructure projects that we’re working on across the Northern network. This includes major infrastructure renewal and enhancement schemes and means that your day-to-day will be incredibly varied and exciting. Your primary focus will be to manage Northern’s depot and stabling projects related to the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU).
On an average day, you’ll work with the Programme Manager (Infrastructure Change) to ensure you coordinate your efforts in the management of a portfolio of depot-related infrastructure projects. In conjunction with both Northern and the Network Rail TRU programme team, you’ll identify and manage interdependencies within the overall programme. You’ll represent Northern at relevant industry working groups and ensure that our strategic interests are both communicated and protected.
We’re looking for someone who is educated to degree level or who can showcase substantial relevant experience in managing complex projects. You should preferably also have a Project Management qualification and membership to a professional body.
The ideal candidate would have previous experience of working within the railway operating environment, and have a working knowledge of rolling stock and depot facilities and equipment. It would be beneficial to have experience managing construction projects and a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and CDM regulations.
You'll also need to share our values, too. They reflect what's important to the way we work, which means we look for the same in everyone who joins us...
