Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

q Rail Experience
q Structural Civil Engineering experience - Bridges, Piling, Ground stabilisation
q Temporary works coordinator
q Will identify temporary works within the section and ensure these are planned, will liaise with technical, external specialists, etc to ensure they are implemented successfully
q Competent at setting out
q Can train/develop others in setting out skills
q Understand and interpret contract documents (drawings, bending schedules, specifications, moss/setting out information strings)
q Can communicate information to site teams/labour to ensure works are constructed within required tolerances
q Competent at taking off/ordering materials
q Recognises extras and potential claims
q Produces short term programmes for a section of the works
q Raises RFI's and CVI's
q Writes letters to external companies for signature by the Agent
q Can supervise a team of engineers
q Has excellent man-management skills
As bottom end of scale plus:
q Can manage a significant package of works, independently with minor management support and direction
q Can prepare a structure or section programme; can prepare 6 weekly/2 weekly fully resourced level 6 programmes, can assist and train engineers in preparing 2-weekly programmes
q Can produce comprehensive method statements for all operations carried out by BGCL or sub-contractors, to be offered to the client for approval
q Can produce for implementing a QA plan
q Will have demonstrated the distinction "commercial awareness" for the full range of activities for which he/she is responsible
q Will understand the principle of cost management for labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
q Will have a key role in assisting the SQS to maximise value
q Will take a proactive role for Company standards for safety
q Will proactively carry out a number of other roles, eg TWC, First Aider, Quality Auditor, COSHH/Noise Co-ordinator, Design Co-ordinator
Job Purpose Summary :
To assist the Project Manager in the safe and efficient Management of the site or section of works, whilst ensuring that all relevant Company Group & Sector Specific Procedures and Policies are met, in accordance with the Integrated Business Management System.
