About The Role
Project Planner reporting to Principal Planner/ Team Leader
- Provide Project Managers, delivery teams and resource managers with top quality planning support, including comprehensive workload forecasts to company Directors. The team’s project portfolio consists of 100 live ongoing projects of which are handled by the planning team, a close-knit unit consisting of 12 individuals with varied levels of expertise and high levels of cooperation in order to deliver the projects requirements.
- Share knowledge and experience with other planning team members
- Offering support to Project Engineers and Project Managers via utilising a range of reporting techniques and tools and providing comprehensive information from the delivery of projects to schedule
- Using Primavera P6 and alternative planning software to prepare and develop effective project planning schedules and controls
- Follow established company processes and practices to complete the preparation, development and maintenance of effective project reporting tools
- Assist the company and the Project Team with managing performance through effective communication and taking necessary corrective action to ensure that contractual commitments are met and delivered on time and within budget
- Develop and maintain client relationships in order to obtain steady growth of planning services supplied directly to external clients
- Constantly improving and developing company’s quality of service
- Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the company’s operations
- Any other reasonable duties as required
About You
Self-motivated team player. Able to work with the minimum of supervision. Pro-active problem solving
- Computer literate – specifically, Excel, Lotus notes, Microsoft Office packages
- Minimum of GCSE qualifications in English, IT and Maths
- Experience of working within a client focused team would be advantageous
- Willingness to learn and gain new knowledge, as well as sharing their own knowledge and experiences with the team
- Comprehensive knowledge of EVM and performance reporting through the use of performance indicators (CPI/SPI)
- Excellence in planning systems and software
- Engineering qualification or interest in perusing one would be advantageous
- Knowledge of safety standards
- Minimum of 4 years planning experience with at least 2 years in rail design.
- Knowledge of Engineering principles and standards, ideally within civil engineering or rail industry
- Strong understanding of programming and delivery to timescales/budget
- Broad knowledge and understanding of Primavera P6 software
- Experience in creating, maintaining and delivering large multidisciplinary schedules
- Experience of working in a team environment, willing to be proactive in sharing best practice and experience in supporting the successful delivery of project planning services
- Planning and executing- Manage multiple activities, a long-term planner able to track, update & inform, identifies risks.
