Nature and Scope:


The Project Planner will report to the Planning Engineer and be responsible for project planning and monitoring for the programme works on the Piccadilly Line upgrade project.

The Project Planner, in performing their role, will be required to work extremely closely with the Operational and Project Managers in order to deliver the design and construction programme to meet the obligations of the contract.

The Project Planner shall provide the highest quality and level of Customer service. At the same time achievement of the delivery timescales and at budgeted cost without compromising the quality of product or service is a critical success factor.

• Attendance of progress meetings with partners, clients and subcontractors

• Preparing updates of the programme, ensuring targets met, progress reporting and 4 week look ahead.

• Best practice working within the remits of Health & Safety requirements.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Ensure work activities are planned and controlled in accordance with all SHE policies and procedures.
• Continual communication with Operations Manager / Project Manager and Design, Installation and Commissioning Engineers with regards to progress and meeting specific programme dates.
• Have a thorough appreciation of both LU and UK Power Networks Policies and procedures.
• Liaise with third parties throughout various organisations including UK Power Networks, LU, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Analyse planning and control requirements for the programme of works, making recommendations on the most appropriate use of the planning package.
• Assist in the development of procedures for use of the planning package.
• In collaboration with other staff, client and project partners where necessary, produce schedules, work breakdown structures, , critical path analysis, reports, programme narratives and other project planning documentation.
• Regularly update and monitor project progress, providing feedback to project staff and managers.
• Carry out earned value analysis, providing feedback to project staff and managers.
• Carryout project and programme resource planning and leveling, providing feedback to project staff and managers.
• Liaise with client and other project partners to achieve integrated planning across the whole programme.
• Provide coaching for other staff members where appropriate.
• Produce information and reports as required.
• Support Project Manager and Planning Engineer on all project planning related matters.


Essential Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining complex programmes using Primavera software.
• Energetic and hardworking individual with an ability to motivate themselves and others

• Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• The drive and ability to motivate others to achieve project objectives and to optimise the contribution of all members of the team.

• Experience working with online Contract Administration Management Systems (CAMS) e.g. Asite
• Use of P6 Planning in an electrical engineering environment.

• Background and knowledge of both Contracting and Electrical Engineering
• Proven safety management knowledge including CDM requirements
• Experience in working on NEC contracts option A and option C.
