About the Company:

West Midlands Trains has an exciting opportunity for a Property Project Manager to join the Property Team based at our Head Office in Birmingham. WMT is currently investing £1 billion to improve rail services from London to Liverpool and across the West Midlands. This includes new trains, improved stations and better journeys.

The role is responsible for managing and leading projects within the Property Department, coordinating and allocating the resource to projects as required and managing a portfolio of projects.

Property Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Utilise the project tools to deliver the projects at West Midlands Trains.
  • Provide all reporting on the project as requested.
  • Appointing and directing a project team, taking responsibility for the progress of the work and use of resources. Initiating corrective actions to assure delivery when necessary.
  • Interface with other functions and external suppliers/contractors to obtain the correct specialist knowledge.
  • Managing specific issues and risks relating to the project.
  • Ensuring the project delivers the products to the correct quality, timescales and cost.
  • Conduct appropriate transition/handover of products between the project team and BAU.
  • Monitoring and accurately communicating progress of the project against the plan, including position on timescales, costs, risks, issues, dependencies.
  • Responsible for raising your own purchase requisitions and ensuring purchase orders are GRN’d as soon as the work is completed satisfactory.
  • Performing quality assurance role to establish quality control
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and post and as required

Property Project Manager Requirements:

  • Track record in successful delivery of infrastructure and M&E enhancements and renewals.
  • Ability to work creatively, within a framework, in order to provide high quality outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple discipline project team.
  • Proven expertise and credibility in the field of project management.
  • PRINCE2 or APM qualification/s
  • Proven track record of delivery in a design and build environment
  • Ability to train and mentor staff on best practice techniques/principles
  • Health and Safety Qualification – IOSH minimum, NEBOSH desirable.
  • Knowledge of process improvement, lean practices such as 6 sigma / Kaizen desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering projects in a rail environment.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience within a construction or mechanical/electrical discipline
