Designated Project Engineer (Inside IR35)

As a Designated Project Engineer, your main responsibilities would be:
- Act as a Designated Project Engineer (DPE) to lead team of around 8 Project Engineers on Enhancements project including Track Renewals, Signaling Work, Installation of new OLE and Structures Upgrades
- To provide technical engineering input, support and advice across a designated engineering discipline
- To provide technical expert advice input and support associated with the provision of services for NR customers and suppliers
- Supporting professional leadership for a designated engineering discipline while providing expert advice, support and input to technical accident and incident investigations
- To support the setting of policy and standards, operational processes and systems, manage the design and delivery of programmes for the development of technical capability required within Network RAIL, including the competence framework and effective training materials
- Supporting the development of strategy, technology and assets across functions and with industry partners and liaise with product manufacturers, including external stakeholders
- Researching and responding to changes in the internal and external requirements and practice which impact upon policy and standards as well as identifying opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation, developing business cases and Investment Papers where required
- To support training assurance activities and act as Delivery Manager for delivery of a specific project or portfolio of projects and deliver projects to time, cost and quality
You’ll have:
- Significant experience in engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas
- Experience as a DPE
- Experience on multi-disciplinary projects, including application of CSM for CSM Significant schemes and Authorisation of Interoperable Projects
- Technical qualifications to at least HND level or equivalent
- Membership of a relevant professional institution
- Experience of major contracting
- Knowledge of structuring safety cases in support of projects
- Knowledge of safety management and quality assurance
- An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of works
