We are recruiting a Scheme Project Manager to join Network Rail, initially for six months. You will be responsible for the delivery of infrastructure projects, including Access For All footbridges and maintenance buildings, in Cardiff and Bristol.
As Scheme Project Manager, your main responsibilities would include:
- Accountability for delivery of low complexity projects or parts of complex projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Governance of Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures including HMRI guidance where appropriate.
- Supporting the Project Sponsor in preparing and maintaining definitions of the project requirements.
- Managing multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements and establish a robust baseline plan.
- Identifying and monitoring project risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement mitigations to them, and respond to other issues that affect the project
- Implementing and updating resource allocation plans needed for delivery of the project including identification and management of critical resource requirements. Secure resources needed for projects from internal and external sources.
- Managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- Managing project reviews at appropriate points throughout the project lifecycle which will inform governance decisions of projects by providing evaluations of progress, performance, risk, contingency, and continuing relevance.
- Establishing, and implementing where necessary, protocols to change the scope of projects and updating configuration documents as required.
- Supporting accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person.
You’ll have essential experience of the following demonstrated on your C.V:
- Strong project management skillset and membership of appropriate body (e.g. APM)
- Achievement of Prince 2 Foundation or equivalent
- Working knowledge of key aspects of project management including contracting, budget delivery and project delivery
- Strong communication skillset and an ability to work with a diverse stakeholder set
- Working knowledge of relevant project health and safety legislation
It is desirable but not essential that you also meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience of delivering schemes of work within the rail industry and working knowledge of GRIP application and CDM regulations
- Knowledge of Network Rail assets and their management and Network Rail’s Project, Investment, Commercial and Procurement practices
