Scheme Project Manager in London, London, United Kingdom
My Client, a Tier 1 Global Contractor within the Rail industry who specialise in Signalling are currently looking for a Scheme Project Manager to be based out of their London office due to recent project awards.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Assist the Project Manager to deliver projects of all appropriate sizes and complexities, although at times you may be required to assist in the delivery of sections of a larger Project.
Provide assistance to the Project Manager, co-ordinating a number of tasks within the work site and completing planned works to budget, safely and within set timescales, whilst maintaining a high standard in all areas in accordance with the Client, Suppliers, Contractors, Stakeholders, Partners (internally or externally) Policies & Procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide the Project Manager clear and precise feedback on the status of planned project items.
- To ensure delegated areas of the contract are completed in line with standards and policies.
- Demonstrate works are completed to SHEQ policies & procedures.
- Manage people, time, plant, materials, & sub-contractors in line with the Project Execution Plan and programme.
- Check, control and authorise, within defined limits, purchase requisitions placed by Site Managers.
- Maintain supplier relations in line with the Supply Chain Management Policy.
- Communicate programme requirements to staff.
- Produce written reports, e. g. accident investigation, monthly progress reports etc.
- Assist in the management of internal interfaces with Testing, Design & Installation etc.
- Support the Project Manager with the input of Project risks in line the Risk Management System.
- Liaise with the appropriate Network Rail representatives in order to establish required line possessions.
- Ensure that a comprehensive Daily Diary of site activities and events are produced and kept for each project.
- Subject to the Terms & Conditions of your contract, it may be required that some travel and shift pattern changes will be necessary to fully perform some of your duties/activities.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Ensure the Alstom Site Management Policy is adhered to.
- Continually update the Project Team on the compliance with Standards & Procedures Policies.
- Demonstrate to the Project Team that all works are in compliance with SHEQ policies.
- Targeted deliverables taken from Project Management Plan and programme.
- Confirm that staff has returned their Goods Received notifications to the Commercial & Accounts Departments as required.
- The delivery of all project material is in compliance with the project materials schedule and report to the Project Management Team.
- Issuing of the Work Package Plans.
- Produce accurate reports and ensure feedback to Project Team and Alstom supply chain management staff and to be able to input into Reporting Injuries, Diseases & Dangerous Occurrences Regulation Reports.
- Demonstrate the Project is being executed in line with the Project Management Policy documents.
- Complete full training on the Risk Management System and nominated risks are closed out in line with the Project Risk Register.
- Fully minute and document all meetings in line with Project Management procedure.

Essential requirements for the position of Scheme Project Manager are as follows:-
- Familiarisation of contract conditions.
- Extensive experience of the planning process.
- Awareness of customer standards.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Design & Testing.
- Understanding of management systems.
- Knowledge of quantified risk assessments.
- Computer skills, including Primavera and Sure Track, along with excellent communication skills.
- HND / Degree in an engineering or management discipline.
- Personal Track Safety certification.
- Completion of various Health & Safety/Environmental courses.
- Accredited railway training course.
Desirable attributes may include:
- Staff management skills
- Leadership qualities.
- Membership of a related Professional Body.
- Professional Project Management Training, Association of Project Managers.
- Skills & experience that would enhance the delivery of the project to high standard, safely and on time, within budget.
