Senior Project Manager – Rail Infrastructure
Location: Cardiff (3 days per week required)

About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a complex major rail infrastructure project. This is a pivotal role requiring strong leadership, technical oversight, and expert contract management—particularly with NEC forms of contract.
Multi-disciplinary experience required, with a bias on Civils & Track preferable.
You will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design and delivery of a major rail infrastructure project from concept through to completion.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk across all phases.
- Administer and manage NEC contracts, ensuring compliance and effective change control.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress.
- Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Prepare and present project reports to senior leadership and clients.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing large-scale rail infrastructure projects.
- Extensive working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including contract administration and dispute resolution.
- Strong understanding of rail industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive project performance.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, or project management.
Desirable
- Chartered status (e.g., CEng, MAPM).
- Experience working with Network Rail or other major rail clients.
- Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems.
