I am currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager with experience leading the delivery of rolling stock
installation or modification projects.
The business is a leader in railway rolling stock engineering, enhancement and systems integration and provides high quality turnkey project and consultancy services to maximise vehicle utilisation and performance. With excellent rail engineering, production and project management skills; the company operates from design and engineering offices in Birmingham and from a range of project facilities to suit vehicle and fleet locations.
Main Responsibilities:
Principle Manager for the organisation of the project activities to achieve the objective of delivering satisfaction in terms of the overall project Quality, on time and within budget.
Acting as the Companies principle representative in all respects, including commercial, technical discussions, meetings, and presentations to the Customer during the execution of the Project
Measurement of day to day activities and progress, managing the development of the project plan to ensure the plans are up to date, robust and reflect the current strategy.
Evaluating and identifying project risk, setting out mitigation and/or recovery plans as appropriate.
Develop and improve measures and KPI monitors, publish information to give visibility of the project to other members of the team. Communicate strategy within the team and to the workforce.
Prepare and publish project progress reports, executive reviews and metrics as required
Chair regular project briefing meetings. Ensure issues of difficulty are properly discussed and actions allocated to individuals to close any identified actions. Minute these meetings and circulate action reports and outstanding action lists.
Identify key suppliers, negotiate commercial terms and engage sub-contracted resources, (both internal Company and external suppliers)
Facilitate communications, maintain project files and records.
Act as the Customer relations manager, deliver information and determine actions to meet the Customers aspirations.
Manage Relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors, both internal and external Prime Objectives (outcomes)
Manage and direct all aspects of the project to secure a successful outcome.
Provide leadership to the Project Team
Evaluate progress against the Project Plan, devise and develop corrective actions where required
Communicate with, motivate and monitor the resources allocated to the project team, both internal and external.
Identify variation to project scope, document and evaluate, negotiate where required.
Produce accurate reports and measures of progress for both Customers and the Company Management in order to provide visibility in terms of progress, cost Vs budget, project risk and Stakeholder relationships.
Required Skills and Experience:
Substantial experience in a major project environment, likely to be in a rolling stock enhancement environment.
Good level of competency in Microsoft Project planning tools
Numerate and technically literate - good communicator
Degree level education in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a Project Management Professional
