Signalling Project Manager

Randstad is proud to partner with Queensland Rail (QR) on a major international recruitment drive to source signalling professionals from around the globe. As part of this major recruitment drive, we are looking to identify experienced Signalling Project Managers for their Major Projects and Integration division (MPI).

QR operates passenger and freight rail services across Queensland, and is committed to providing a customer-focused, safe and world-class rail service. It is also responsible for the maintenance of a 6600 kilometre rail network and the effective delivery of projects to improve the efficiency and increase the capacity of its rail assets.

QR has a current project pipeline of over A$10 billion and this is expected to grow exponentially in the build up to the 2032 Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games. As a result of this significant investment, the need to secure in-house signalling and systems assurance resources is paramount to support the Major Projects and Integration division (MPI). MPI is currently delivering Cross River Rail, which includes the installation/commissioning of ETCS level 2 and the Fast Rail project from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast.

About the role

The Signalling PM will oversee and manage all aspects of the delivery of major/complex, safety critical signal and operational systems projects. Based out of QR’s Brisbane office and will travel to site as required.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ownership, autonomous and full accountabilities of project(s) decision/outcome including contract negotiations for supply and service sub-contractors
  • Budget management of the project portfolio to include overhead facilities and indirect project costs
  • Compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Leadership through project delivery
  • Management of a high-performance team
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met

To be successful in this role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Sciences, Project Management or Construction Management
  • Significant signalling project management experience in construction or a related field
  • Major project management experience in delivering brownfield rail signalling projects
  • Proven experience managing signalling projects, specifically within ETCS
  • Contract, commercial and financial management
  • Project management and project delivery experience in a major project environment
